I try to use the AKAI conversion exactly as it says in the included 
EXS24 manual, when I put a CD the system reads it then ejects it 
without ever showing anything in the converter window.  After I take 
the CD out and shut down logic, there is still a CD icon on my 
desktop that shows an audio CD.

What is the deal?

I have converted CD's in the past using OS 8.6, the only difference 
now is I freshly rebuilt the OS and reinstalled everything and am 
running OS 9.2.2


Please help, I am going MAD.  MAD I SAY MAD!

You're probably trying to convert a combined Akai/audio disk. Try disabling
Apple CD/DVD extension and Apple Audio CD access or whatever it's called,
restart and try converting.
