Where are my patches?

Where are my patches?

2002-08-08 by Phil Nad

Hi all, I'm new on the group. Can anyone tell me how
to
see all Sampler Instruments in the EXS-24 on PC ?
The problem is that I have put maybe 30 CDs of
translated Roland patches in the correct folder, but
it seems that the EXS cannot see all the patches at
once ?!? I must use the 'find' function to see what
I'm
looking for. Quite weird to me. I even tried
re-installing the whole system, thinking that it would
be an OS or Logic error, updating every firmware and
drivers: nothing was corrected. I even bought like 10
native EXS-24 CDs that I dumped on the drive like they
show how to do it right, and still the same problem.
Looks like the EXS has a patch population limit !?

Here are my specs: P-3 1GHz / 4 HDs ( 1x 18G UW-SCSI
for Audio tracks, 1x 60G ata-133 for my C -where logic
and my instruments stuff is located along with Windows
ME ( also tried XP after ), 2x 60G ata-133 ( 1 for
video playback and 1 for EXS-instruments WAV files )
512MB ram / HammerFall 9652 / Matrox G-450 E-TV /
Ati-PCI rage pro / network card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx
Phnadz

You have to place them in your Sampler Instruments folder. Or place a
shortcut (alias on Mac) in your SI folder pointing at their location. Also,
you can't bury them more than a few layers deep. I.e. you can't them in
folders within folders within folders etc. etc.

Thanks Jim, but I took care not to go more than 2 or 3 folders deep from the Sampler
Instruments folder. You may also note that when I start Logic ( PC ), the instrument
scanning during the start-up process takes quite a while... like 1 full minute. If I move
the instruments away from that computer, logic starts very fast. Is there a problem with
my config? Any other Ideas anyone?
Someone I know told me that this issue had already been discussed on this group
or the LUG. Are there classified archieves somewhere from which I could find
an answer ?

Apart from that, everything rocks!

Cheers

Phil

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
