MKII for Logic 4.7?

MKII for Logic 4.7?

2002-12-12 by Jonathan Parham

Hey folks,
I've been reading the threads about translating Giga files to ESX. I'm a
PC gigastudio owner and have Logic and on my Mac and would love to put all
this together.
I have Logic Audio Platinum 4.8, is there a link that will let me update
my ESX without Buying the 5.0 upgrade? And please be specific with links.
:)

Sincerely

No can do. It's integrated. The upgrade is because of Logic. There are tons
of improvements in Logic overall. I don't think you'd regret purchasing the
upgrade. The automation alone is worth the money.

Thanks for the info. Yeah the automation would be good. I started mixing
a project in Logic and the automation really slowed me down. I went back to
Pro tools because it was way easier.
Where do I get this upgrade? Emagic USA? or do dealers have it?

Logic 5 upgrade / Constructive Criticism of Automation

2002-12-13 by HELP@MusicBootCamp.com

UPGRADE:

Only from EmagicUSA. They send you a box and you have 30 days (or more... I
forget) to send in any of your 4.x plugin CDs (like the EXS24) and they send
you a code shortly thereafter for each one. You also have to return your 4.x
key in trade for the new one. I can't remember the exact details, but I
recall that I never lost functionality throughout the process. I've heard
about delays with other folks (even on this list), but I think things are
probably running smoothly by now.

AUTOMATION:

Just remember to go to the automation settings under the options menu and
activate the ability to move automation with track segments. Man, I did two
remixes before I knew about this, and I can't convey the elation I had when
I was told about the switch. I can't imagine why it's not active by default.
There is hardly ever a case where I don't want to move all the automation
data associated with a sequenced track or audio segment at the same time.

Moving automation can be a little buggy when you try to move something like
20 tracks at a time over a period of several bars, particularly if your
moving those ton of tracks to the begging of a song from the end and moving
the beginning further down the timeline. The problem seems to go away if you
do each track individually, but who wants to waste time with that? This is a
bug for me and really cuts into my work flow. If Emagic/Apple is listening,
I hope careful attention is given to this matter. Ideally, when you move a
section of automation, start and end points on existing automation values
would be inserted for each parameter of the section you are moving, so there
is no chance for the automation to get messed up when things get moved
around a lot. I know this would be easy to program (at least that's my
cheeky theory), so let's get it on, alright? I can't imagine life without
the new automation in Logic, but there's room for improvement. I'm 100%
happy with it, until I have to hack apart a mix and rearrange each section
of the song. Then it gets ugly and time-consuming. Please fix this!!!

Peace,
Jer

Hey Jer,

Where are you located. I've been visiting the MusicBootCamp.com site quite a bit, and
find it to be EXTREMELY helpful in more ways than one. I noticed the 301 area code which
tells me you are in Maryland. I'm in Maryland also, but I wanted to get additional
information about your company.

I hope you don't mind passing on the information. Thanks in advance.

J-Mac!

Thanks, man. Wheaton (Silver Spring), not far from Chuck Levin's Washington
Music Center (good keyboard/software department). E-mail me directly for
more information. PS: Thanks for the free press. ;-) Jer

Wheaton! Cool, not far at all. I'd like to touch base with you when you have time. I'm
currently wrapping up on a project, and will be starting my own the first of the year.
Would like to discuss utilizing your services regarding the project whenever you are
available of course.

Holla at you later,

J-Mac!
