How do I apply a single edit to one zone to all zones?

How do I apply a single edit to one zone to all zones?

2002-12-30 by bob_vandiver <bobv@speakeasy.net>

OK, I just used a certain translation utility on a CD ROM (Hans
Zimmer's Guitars volume 2), translating Akai to EXS24 Mk. II.

I find that if more than one zone is layered to a given key (zones
which are selected or not selected according to their velocity range)
all the zone layers play, not just one layer for velocities 0-74,
another for velocities 75-116, etc. Looking at the sample editor I
see that the check-off parameter within each zone editor that tells
the sample to sound/not sound according to velocity -- is not
checked. I check this check-off, the velocity ranges for this zone
are made visible and are correct as is.

In other words, the only problem with this translation is that the
check-off box is not checked, in each zone editor box. Is there a way
I can apply this single edit to all the zones at once? I try "Select
all," but this does not do it.

TIA,

I ran into a similar situation last night where I wanted to check
one shot sample playback on for every zone of an existing Akai
translated program. I don't think that there is any way around this.
In fact, Logic often freeze on me when I fold/unfold multiple zone
windows. All On/All Off parameter control - add it to the wishlist.

I think I may have good news for you.
Being a compulsive multiple-keystroke junkie, I tried your <select
all> scenario, and then <Option>-clicked the parameter box
and.............it works!!! (This is on Mac - maybe <alt> or <ctrl>
on PC)

My logic was this:
In other windows in Logic, as with many cases in the Mac OS, <Option>
seems to often do bulk commands. For example, in the Audio window, if
you have lots of audio files with their waveform displays visible,
you can select them all, then <Option>-click the little
collapse-triangle and they ALL fold up. (try it......)

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

Regards - Colin

It most certainly did, Colin. Thank you again. I did find out however that
there is a slight twist.

Most editor windows seem to want to open with all but the first zone
selected. If one does the option select on one of the open zones the
unselected zone is not modified. Select all first, open all zone windows
then make the edit.
