Teddybut,

I don't remember if you're on Mac or PC, but on Mac, I can tell you I had
no problems using pHATfactory (up to 8 instances) for hours without a
crash. I'm using 9.2.2.

Teddy is a Mac user as well - but over here (on PC) I had no single crash
with PPro at all.
FWIW, I know from quite some Logic/Mac users that they're having crashes
with PPro (mainly Logic testing colleagues, so I would suspect they usually
know how to setup their machines...).

Anyways, stability issues never have been part of my complaints.

For months I have not seen anything but raves about Phatmatic Pro.
These even persuaded me to participate in the group buy.

Now somebody laments that a screen shot of a competing prodict looks
a lot like PP and suddenly PP is slammed as a useless piece of crap.

Two words: Moderation, Decaf.

It would seem that Art has had his 15 minutes of fame ;-)

I joined the group buy too so lets hope is that Art is doing a major rejig of
Phatmatic Pro and keeping its details under his hat now that he has a bunch of
competitors snapping at his heels.

M

Well, I'm not sure about the 15 minutes of fame, but I can tell you this
much: I can't believe how quickly some people are ready to condemn Art G.
Do me a favour, and read a few of the posts from about a year and a half or
so ago. Everyone it seemed was so happy at being able to play REX files in
Logic, for free! Then pHATpro comes along, and people are once again
excited and thrilled. Now there's a major bug when using pHATpro in Logic
5.5 (which I'm sure Art will solve) and the big boys are catching on to
Art's plug (_of course_ N.I.'s version will have more features - they have
much more money, and money = programmers...), and he's being flogged in
public!

Give the guy a break, and read the Forum on Bitshift's website - you'll see
that Art _is_ answering his customers and his critics.

I think if you re-read all our posts you will see that we are not being
unfair at all. The issues that have been raised are valid. Many of us have
tried to show that he did have a good reputation and on the whole the
product is a good idea and useable. But he has since lost his way and
doesn't seem too concerned about getting back on track by providing some
long overdue communication and updates.

This is for Teddybutt: I use windows and LAP 5.5 - P-pro always
crashes when using the illuminated red slice display function, the one that
makes them light up in sequence when played. Try turning it off, if it was
on.

Hector.

As a Mac user PPro has been rock solid for me. Except at the beginning when I was just learning it and loaded in full length audio loop CD files containing multiple loops. It froze hard. The loops have to be trimmed before loading. Once I figured that out, it has been fine.

I haven't upgraded to LAMP 5.5 yet so am unaware of potential problems with them together. It works fine for me though in Logic 5.2

one thing I've learnt with macs is that you have to be careful about getting
worked up about buggy software because these things can be so machine
specific. I too find PPro very reliable [even in 5.5] and the convenience
when working with loops is hard to beat.

now if Art could sort the upgrade thing out I'd rather buy from him than
INTAKT from NI with their "flog it too you and forget you" attitude [i.e.
Dynamo, Battery, etc].

support the small fry! rather than just the corperate wilderbeasts!!

enough already.

No crashes here in LAWP 5.3 - I think it's a great product let down by file
system issues that don't bother me at all. I can see how some users who
would want to switch loops easily between songs would find this frustrating,
but I am a one loop/one song man. I am sure there are clumsy workarounds.

User frustration stems quite justifiably from the "promised" free upgrade
that has yet to materialise. It's hateful when people say one thing and do
another to sell a product (even if it is innocent and inadvertent).
Meanwhile PhatFactory has been developed and marketed in this period so ....

I am still a satisfied user myself and it isn't as if it cost much money ...
