Re: [exs] Velocity layers in giga library

Re: [exs] Velocity layers in giga library

I am new to EXS-24 through the demo that you get from buying logic 5.5

I don't have good documentation on how to properly use the sampler

but I have a question

I loaded up the bosendorfer grand giga and got it to work but it seems that
it's not playing all the different velocity layers that are setup in the
patch. It sounds like it's just playing one layer at every velocity.

is there a way to set exs-24 to play the different velocity layers?
this piano is 8 layers deep and all the layers are loaded 768 zones. I see a
sekect range box that is unchecked and when I check it I see two more boxes
appear that have the velocity data settings. When this is checked are those
settings then activated? I didn't hear a difference.

thanks for any help
Holmes Ives

How did you expand this? I am thinking about buying this Sample Set but I have been told that it can not be expanded w/o using Gigasampler. Is this true?

Wow....Kontakt has exact the same problem of not loading the velocity layers right.
EXS has the same problem?

I am curious to hear an answer for this as well....

I have the Bosendorfer and it plays back all velocities very well. If you open edit doesn´t the velocity change show when you press the key with different velocities, it should be pretty obvious. If it doesn´t then I would try to convert the thing again. BTW I think there´s only 4 layers x 2 isn´t it layered in pairs being triggered differently sustainpedal wise, I may be completely wrong here but I seem to remember having noticed this.

Hi,

Can you extract it without having Giga Sampler?

Yes,I used macrar no problems. Then exs converts it.

In the edit mode of exs24 I see 8 layers, do these illuminate as you press
the keys? I only see the note on the keyboard light up as I press on my
controller. Should exs 24 automatically utulize the velocity payers in a
program or do you have to set something or is it a known bug? Kontakt does
the velocity layers but playback is choppy if I really go to town.

thanks

You need to activate "select zone of last played key" first.

This was replied: Yes,I used macrar no problems. Then exs converts it.

That´s strange on my CD it was in a special format that only Gigastudio could unpack. It only concerned the Steinway B because it´s on two CD´s.

yes I have and it worked

thanks!!

it seems to sound like the same sample only quieter or louder
though.
I will test by loading totally different sounds to see if it is really
switching samples per velocity.

it seems to sound like the same sample only quieter or louder though.

I thought about that too, no obvious velocity switching what so ever.
