Hi there, I don't know if this has been covered, I didn't find it in the archive, maybe I chose the wrong words... is it possible to merge two or more presets into one, or do I have to use CDXtract to do that? Thanks for the help Cheers Hans

I suppose you mean that you want to take 2 EXS programs, and create a new one where the original 2 are layered, right? I don't see what cdextract would have to do with that... Just load the 1st program in the EXS and open the Instrument Editor. Load the next program in the EXS, and open another Instrument Editor window. In the 1st editor, select all, copy, and in the 2nd editor window paste. Then 'save as' new program name. Rather straightforward, isn't it? -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com

Thank you very much, my life is a lot better now! Cheers Hans

Rather straightforward, isn't it? OK, but what if I want to import a set in which one bank is selected by one key and the other by a second? The problem I see is: take bank 1, change group 1 to "select by" and designate your key. Now I want to add layer 2. Open that bank and its editor. Change that group to "select by" and name another key. However, both banks are set to group 1. How do you make the second bank go to a second group before the merge (doing so afterwards would, I would think, be rather labor intensive)? Inquiring minds...... Bob Vandiver

Not sure if I understand your question correctly (the use of the word 'bank' in the context of the EXS which doesn't have banks confuses me), but: if you have 2 EXS programs in which the zones are assigned to one group, and you then copy/paste everything (zones plus belonging group) into a new editor window, you'll end up with 2 layers of zones, where each layer is assigned to its own group (since you copied the group _with_ the zones when doing the copy/paste). It's then fairly easy to change the 'select by' definition of the 2 groups. I.e. the trick is to have the original instruments set up properly, grouped and all. Copying and pasting duplicates the original structure, so that it's easy to select the original layers in the composite instrument. If I misunderstood your question, please give it another try :-). -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com

No you got it essentially correct Hendrik. I am not sure if I understand you though either. Let me see if I got it right, Program 1 with its zones are sent to group 1 in its editor window, Program 2 with its zones assigned to its group (also group 1). Select all in 2, paste into editor for program 1. Does the group 1 of program 2 increment upon pasting to group 2 automatically? BobVandiver

If you have named your groups they retain their names when pasted, if they are simply numbered (the default) then the numbers will be revised -- you won't have two "Group 1"s. Regards, Murray

Thanks Murray, Sascha and Hendrik! Bob -- "See, we love we love freedom. That's what they didn't understand. They hate things; we love things. They act out of hatred; we don't seek revenge, we seek justice out of love." George W. Bush, Oklahoma City, Aug. 29, 2002 Brings tears to the eyes...
