I don't want do beat a staggering stallion, but I am going crazy tryng to
figure out how to get my exs24 to load faster. some files take seven seconds
to load some take two. I can't seem to find rhyme or reason. I have just
transfered a bunch of aiff files from old audio sample CD's ie classical
choir, ect... and they all load quickly. The files that load slowly do load
faster once thay have been loaded once. A removed some files booted down and
then reloaded them. They still take seven seconds to laod. What am I missing
I'm using 6.0 on a G4 OS9 Help ... Jake

Indexing your drive should help speed up search times. You can also scan the
archives for message outlining how to automate the firs-load hurdle while
you are asleep. It's a matter of tying your EXS next instrument command to a
control number (in the EXS editor preferences), then putting this command in
a sequence, leaving a reasonable space between events. Basically, just leave
the sequencer on loop and go to bed. There are in-depth descriptions of this
in older messages. -Jer

I might point out that for anyone with Logic 6( like Jake) the
Project Manager can do all this... meaning ... it has a " Find
Unresolved files " command.
Works very well for EXS24 Sampler instruments.
I found it to be much faster than the " Loop Method"
The PM also has functions for finding/deleting duplicate
samples and moving sample files from one location to another...
which would update the EXS24 sampler insruments for you
when you move the samples.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
