[EXS] change default controller mappings?

[EXS] change default controller mappings?

2003-08-14 by teddybut

can you change the default controller mappings in the EXS? I have a
controller keyboard and I want my default mappings to save the setup for my
particular keyboard. It's a lot to setup everytime you open a new
instrument.

or is there a way to copy and paste controller mappings from instrument to
instrument?

thanks,
teddybut

I suppose you're talking about the modulation matrix... That's part
of the EXS interface, so you could save the mapping (together with
filter, adsr, and all the rest) by saving a 'setting' (like you do
with all other plugins, through the standard small popup at the very
bottom).
Then you can load whichever instrument and recall the setting byt
loading it. That will load all other interface-setings as well
though -- filter, lfo, adsr, etc. -- which is probably not what you
want. There's no way to _only_ save the modulation matrix without
affecting the rest of the interface. Would be nice indeed...
As a workaround I guess you could always create a small automation
sequence that sets up the mod-matrix like you want it. Then when
creating a new EXS track, just put this sequence on it, play it back,
and you're done.

I think that will also load the actual instrument. At least last time
I checked, which was a while back

Very smart idea!

Cheers

Hmm... does it? Could be -- I never use the Settings menu in the
EXS. I don't even know what it would be good for (in terms of added
functionality) except for the above idea -- which you say might not
work :).
