Midi CC and channelswitching

Midi CC and channelswitching

2003-02-26 by phrodes <phrode@netcom.no>

Hi.
I have a 2101LE 2.01.01a
Does anyone know if the 2101 can send midi cc?
I have some of the pedals on the Control One sending cc for FX on\off.
I'm getting a midi swithcer to control channelswitching on my Mesa
Studio Pre.
Can I control the midiswitcher with midi cc from the 2101?
Thanks
Phrode

phrode,
the 2101 can send messages on four individual channels.
are you sure, the mesa (or the midi switcher - what is it, btw?) expects cc-messages, not program change messages?
i´m pretty sure, you´ll get what you want. depends a little on the receiving device.
no problem on side of the 2101.

Yes you can send MIDI cc. It's a little complicated but it can be done. I
control a wah in an amp modeler (the POD XT) and it works great with less
(if any) lag time than using the GSP's wah!!!!! I can't right now but if
you need me to walk you through it I will. I just need to know what CC
control number your using to control the channel switching.

Re: Midi CC and channelswitching

Hi.
The midiswitcher I'm thinking about is axess-electronics CFX4.
It can operate with both cc and programchange.

I have set up my Control One so that button 6-10 activates midi cc
for turning FX on or off.

I'm wondering if I could change channels on the Mesa, just by
pressing the cc-toggle button on the footswich?
Do the Midi CC signal leave the 2101, or do I need a program change?

Yes it does. You just have to make sure the CFX4 is set to the same MIDI
channel. That's what I am doing with my Pod XT and it works great. I have
the rocker pedal set to CC4 which is what controller the Pod XT wah is set
to but I don't have it connected to any 2101 parameters.

Can you control where the wah starts, so if you want to start with
the wah at position 60?
How do you turn your wah on and off?

I'm not sure what you're asking. You can control where the wah is
when you first go to the patch and that depends on how you saved it
on the device to be controlled. If you mean you want to control the
amount of wah i.e. the beginning and the end of the wah range, you
can do that by limiting the range in the 2101 expression pedal. I
believe that it is patch specific so the range you set for one patch
would be different for the next patch. I don't switch my wah on and
off but you just need to find what controller number (CC number) the
wah on off switch uses and assign a footswitch to that.

Re: Midi CC and channelswitching

Now I've hooked the Digitech midi out to my computer.
I still have a question.

Is it possible to have the 2101 to send out midi cc when I change
preset\program?

It transmits midi cc when I toggle the midi cc manually but not when
I just change the programs.

have you set the 2101 to "send front panel change=yes" in the midi menu?

Yes I have. That didn't work.

Could it be a softwarething?
I have a 2101 LE 2.01.01 .a
Could it be as simple as an artist upgrade?
