using 2101 in effects loop?

using 2101 in effects loop?

2001-04-28 by Aaron

Hi,

I'd like to use my 2101 in my effects loop. I have never programmed
or really tweeked/changed any of the patches. Will it be as simple
enough just to go into each patch (100+ as these are the user patches,
I think) and just take off the distortion and save the patch? I just
wants the reverbs, effects, etc, in the loop. I will let the pedals
and amp take care of the distortion.

Thanks, Aaron

Aaron,

Don't reset the distortion. Instead, get to the External FX Loop setting
of each patch (press the right button next to the FN buttons several
times) and change the setting from 'bypass' to 'no summ'.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I started going thru my patches and all of the
presets seem to already be set to NO SUMM.

Can you, or anyone else, explain exactly what this is doing to the unit? I
am getting ready to set it up in the effects loop for the first time, so
we'll test it out and see. But I think that when I am playing clean guitar
thru the amp, and I change to one of the distorted presets on the 2101, the
distortion will still come thru, right?

Oh wait, maybe I've got the setting incorrect and it should be 'bypass'.
Either way, I am sure that this is the setting that a) the owners manual
mentioned and b) the one that I successfully use for that purpose, using
the EFX portion of the GSP2101 as a studio effect unit without using the
distortion section.

Hi Aaron, I just got a new Deizel amp from Germany. It
is awsome and I too have been experimenting W/ the
effects loop. What I have found is if you have presets
on the 2101 you like, they will not be the same
through the loop ( maybe close -only on
non-distortion)
I even tried putting expenive & rare GE pre amp tubes
in the 2101. It really improved the sound of the 2101.
I a/b'd the 2101 streight into amp and through effects
loop both series and parallel. Bassically you can only
have it one way or the other. The amp tone is changed
if you dont use the loop.
Have Fun & Good Luck
