Recently had a scratchy pot (output knob) driving me crazy.  I picked up a can of DetoxIT D5 by Caig laboratories.  Opened the 2101 up and sprayed a little in the pot, worked back and fourth a few times and it works like new since.  It has been almost 2 months without recurrence. Simple solution for anyone with similar problems. Also noticed battery getting some corrosion. Installed new battery and sprayed the terminal block with a little DeoxIT  for corrosion resistance. Can be used on input and cord jacks for less resistance and greater connections.  
P.S.  When I replaced battery within 30 seconds or so, I didn't lose any of my stored data (presets).  Anyway just sharing a good experience of a product that works!

Thanks for the tip! I have the scratchy pot too. It causes the right
channel to drop out intermittently. Looks like Radio Shack carries it
'eh?
 
Also I'd like to ask if anyone has bought the version 3.00.00 chips you
often see on ebay and if they are any good? I have a glitch in one of my
alg/patches and was hoping that might be a cure. I presently have
version 2.06.00 or something like that. The patch has a flanger with the
depth set to 0, and even just scrolling past the patch will often make
the led go scrambled, corrupt the sound and make a reboot necessary.
Think a software upgrade might fix it?

So you opened the 2101 up and sprayed some in the pot. Is there an
opening on the pot somewhere to spray into? Excuse my ignorance; I'm
just thinking about performing this operation myself. My output knob is
so bad the right channel barely works. I'm wondering if it's too far
gone because the knob even feels a little loose and has a little
play/wobble in it.
