I know several people there may be using the same rig, or at least using the ADAT card successfully, for sure. And, there are some very knowledgeable people on that list, as well. I'll cc this to over there and you can just join up and look for your answer. :) ... many thanks zeke. i'll go and join the 01v group as well. i'm thinking that these sorts of groups are a great thing! as far as my problem goes, after talking with carillon (who built the pc system for me) they could only guide me through what i already knew from the manual but recommended giving the yamaha helpline a call. whilst waiting to get through to them i rang midiman uk to see if they had any ideas. the guy was a little on the 'do you know what you're doing?' vibe, which wasn't really helpful. on the otherhand, dusty, the yamaha tech was very helpful and helped me work out that the yamaha a-dat unit was working fine... this is the first time i've used optical connections so after a few tests i managed to deduce that there was a problem with the midiman unit... the 'red light' signal was being passed along out of the a-dat board fine but not the other way. so... the unit went back to carillon today for 'tests' but they won't send me a replacement until they've proven to management that the unit is faulty. ho-hum, these things are meant to try us etc! ;) guess on the positive side i'm pleased that after a day of trying to get the connection to work it wasn't me missing something obvious! :) cheers alanx __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
