Oh no! Do you mean to tell me that the networks actually broadcast a
news item that was erroneous or slanted or inflated purely for the
purpose of making it appear to be a story? I thought such things
could never happen!

This is where people go wrong. Thinking that apple would actually be
in any way interested in pursuing such a law suit. Whether the guy
has a point or the whole thing is completely fatuous (and IMHO it is
the latter) to pursue something like that legally would only give the
gadfly more opportunity to do them damage regardless of the outcome.
Even if a jury agreed with me that it was ridiculous and they settled
in favor of apple (which is in no way assure, remember this is a
country where you can sue a restaurant for giving you a cup of hot
coffee without checking first to see if you are so stupid you will
pour it into your own lap) any money from a settlement in apple's
favor would still not cover a fraction of their legal fees. And
coming down hard on the pest to make an example of him would not do
anything for their image. It is a lose lose situation for apple and
really the only option they have is the course they are taking and
that is to do what they can to mollify the joker and wait for it to
blow over.

Too late, I gave it my kitty to play with.
