Well, I don't have the most stable LAMP setup but I've determined
it's not the trackball causing the problem :) I use a Kensington
Turboball. Most of their 4-button models are great, especially since
they're programmable. In logic I have one button do click, one double
click, one option click (good for copying notes/objects) and one
which is the equivalent of the escape key, which brings up the tools
palette wherever the cursor happens to be, which saves _lots_ of
time. I can work the computer one handed which leaves the other free
for the keyboard, control knobs, etc.

Kensington has been good about releasing updates to their drivers as
problems come to the surface also. I highly recommend them.

Hope that helps,

I have to agree, that mouse looks great. I have a Microsoft optical
track ball, 4 buttons. It's nice but I want to get one of the
kensingtons becuase it has more buttons.

The buttons are a key way to make logic fly.

Another thing you may want to look into is a tablet intput device.
Wacom makes several models, one has buttons that you can assign (9
of them) on the pad and has a pen as well as a mouse.

I had a recent case of mouse-wrist, had a guy evaluate my
workstation and the advice he gave me was this:

1. Use a track ball AND
2. Use at least one other input device as well (Mouse or Tablet)
3. Split time between the input devices
4. Reverse tilt the keyboard tray (Away from you)
5. (Important) Teach your self to use relaxed motions when using
input devices.
6. (Important) Good posture is important, but creating a single
position that you work in is bad. Have several positions for your
keyboard and input devices and rotate the positions.

I used to be a keyboard pounder, and I used to tense up my arm and
bend my wrist when using a mouse ... I messed up my wrist so bad
that I had to stop playing AND computering for a month.

Good luck man, I feel your pain ....
