Revision B or C?

2004-09-10 by acetoel

Hello...I have received 10 LPC2106 from philips and I would like to
know if this chips are the famous revision B which has several
problem...I think so...the chips says LPC2106B C00709 TPN0042 5C
What do I have to do to prevent the error of the flash in the B
series?
Thanks
Ezequiel

P.D.: I'm looking for TiniARM_dev_eclipse.pdf which was a schematic
of a dev board...thanks

as for your PS:

http://www.newmicros.com/download/appnotes/ARM/TiniARM_Dev_Eclipse.pdf

although this doesn't deal with schematics of dev. boards but rather
with how to setup an ARM development environment using Eclispe, Cygwin
and GNUArm.

One schematic may be found here:

As described in the errata sheet, the revision is the last letter in
the third line, so it looks like rev C to me.

Now I'm confused. I had a chip sort of distroy itself during ISP
upload. Its marking is from 0418 (week 18 2004) and then 8C (Rev. C).
According to the errata, chips manufactured before week 19 2004 are
affected. Does this means that also C-Rev. are affected??? Or only B
before week 19. Are there B and C from week 18 and is the problem I
encoutered due to the this or something else?

Cheers

I read it as saying that no Rev. C chips are affected. I suppose there could
be both B and C chips from week 18, it's probably the date they were
packaged and marked. Perhaps someone from Philips could confirm this.

Rev C is not affected.

Philips Apps.

Re: Revision B or C?

There are two different issues here. One is a problem in the mask of
the chip itself, which Philips says was fixed in chip rev C.

The other is a problem with the bootloader code. This is not
directly related to chip rev. To fix this problem, bootloader code
in the chip must be upgraded to version 1.52 or higher, as described
in the errata sheet. According to Philips, all chips with date code
0419 or later already have this bootloader code.

If your chips are from 0418, they probably need their bootloader code
updated, even if they are rev C.
