LPC2139 ????????????

LPC2139 ????????????

2005-02-18 by rhpascaldodo

Hi PhilipsApps

where is the LPC2139 (~2138 with CAN) ?
when can we expect to see some chips and the datasheet ?

regards
Rolf

The TI parts have CAN, TMS470R1A64/128/256. I have some samples of
the A256 part in my hand. The A128 and A256 parts can be ordered on
Digikey from stock.

The LPC2119, 2129 and 2194 already have CAN and they look to be much
higher performance and lower cost than the TI automotive parts that
Rick mentioned.

I've heard that the LPC2148 is the LPC2138 with USB is coming out
soon and that the LPC2138 with CAN (I don't know the part number)
follows after.

Do you really expect the LPC CAN parts to be less than $5? The
TMS470R1A64 has CAN and is only $5 @1k and the A128 is only $7 at
Digikey and will likely be closer to $6 at Avnet and others if you
request a price quote. When I checked the prices of the LPC parts,
the only ones that seem to be below $5 are the initial parts in the 48
pin packages and these don't have analog. The only price I can find
for the LPC2119 is $7.60 at Future. But they are sometimes rather
high for no good reason.

I won't get into the performance issues, but I'll just say that I have
seen no benchmarks comparing the LPC parts to any other ARMs.

I was happily surprised at the low prices of the TI parts.

I just purchased 100 LPC2194's from AvNet for $7.50 each. I'd say at qnt.
1000 they would be well below $6. Get a quote from AvNet and see what
they can do for you. The LPC 2194/2294 CAN parts are a bit faster, have a
bit more SRAM, and can get a bit hotter than the TI parts...

I 2nd the Future comment, their pricing seems way out there sometimes.

If you are looking for the TMS470R1A256, then that is the part number
you can search on. If you just use TMS470R1A you will get both the
128 and the 256 part.

If you are talking about the LPC parts, Digikey does not carry them.
Arrow, Avnet and Future are the only Philips vendors I am aware of.
