I'm also a "Wacky" customer. At first, I was trying to color code my cables
with various cable and stress/heatshrink color combinations, but I was
getting too wrapped up in "o.k., this combo is voltage, this is audio, this
one means it's three feet long..." in short I was being completely insane
about it.

So with my last big order, I told John "just give me 6 ea. [or whatever it
was] of 1 ft., 2 ft., 3 ft., [etc.] and do them in any combination you
want--just vary it."

Sure enough, I got a rainbow of cables. Just the fact that they're all
different makes it a TON easier to follow patches now. I look down on my
non-wacky cables now. The Wackys are just that good, solid and attractive!

David.

That's the most important thing - being able to tell the rats-nest of
cables apart from each other when your MOTM system is fully patched. I've
made a lot of cables using the Deltron plugs that Mouser sells. The plugs
have two indentations, each of which fits a colored-plastic ring. Since
there are 9 or 10 colors available, having two colors per patchcord
(remember, the ends have to match or the color-coding's worthless) gives 81
or 100 different color combinations.

However, soldering cables together is way up there on the tedium index.
I'll probably order $100 or so of Kovacky's one of these days ...

hello all,

i might also add, that, the (not having seen them up front) ten colours
(nine plus zero) available will conform to the AES approved colour /
numbering system for cable looms, which (prepare for satori moment) is
exactly the same as the resistor colour code... ...now tell me i'm wrong..?

meanwhile, kit builders of the world maybe interested in this:
http://www.orgon.fsnet.co.uk/
readers of the UK magazine "The Mix" (not the US version, and a poor
relation to Sound On Sound) may remember an article some months ago about
DIY filters - well this chap has just relaunched his website, originally
there were some interesting modules on offer - i for one would has bought a
cheap and nasty envelope follower for butchering, but they seem to
evaporated. i won't comment on the site content though...

meanwhile again, i'm just in the final stages of updating my website
www.pasc.syol.com don't laugh too much cos i've had a terrible time with
filenames, so half the images are still missing, but there's a MOTM
dedicated page www.pasc.syol.com/modular.html i've got a link to Ken's site
(if that's okay), but obviously i'd like to add a big heap of MOTM related
sites - anyone who wants to be included, just email me privately

cheers all
