Heat Death? Help, please.

Heat Death? Help, please.

2001-01-21 by pow333@hotmail.com

Could someone please help me with this problem? Please?
Assembled a 420, it was working great, right. Left it on for a while,
suddenly the audible frequency when self oscillating has moved way to
the clockwise part of the dial, as in nothing audible until about 7 or
8. tried fussing with the trimpots to no avail. didn't think it's being
on for several hours would cause such a problem but I can't seem to
think of anything else. could anyone suggest fixes, i was enjoying
using it too much to be without it now.

Do you have anything plugged into the 1V/OCT or FM1 or FM2 jacks?

you sure you built it right :P? I leave my motm on for more than 24 hours at
times and haven't had any trouble with anything burning out.

I use this exact same technique.

You know, this brings up a good point. I know everyone has their own ways
of checking their work. But, I have found that trying to go back and check
a lot of joints after-the-fact is hard to tell where you are going and where
you have been. So, I will share something that works for me. I check all
of my joints under magnification before I trim the leads. Then when I am
happy, I trim the leads off. So, after soldering a few parts on, I stop,
inspect and clip. Everything not clipped needs to be inspected. Everything
trimmed already has been. So, I am sure not to miss soldering any joints
that way, and I don't waste time looking over and over at the same joints.

Just my $.02
Larry
