Tony - thanks very much for your kind support, but I should explain.....some of our list members here are vying for the "MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR" award.
It's a very happy event where we all get to shine and show the world the nature we eventually become remembered and acknowledged for!!
This contest is open to anyone on Mellotron lists past or present:
MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR CONTEST
Qualifications:
- Sense of Humour, Thick Skin, Thick Skull, and Irradiated Testicles
- Ownership or involvement with the Mellotron or any and all of it's related offshoots.
- Measurable "Non Apology" for asshole-type behaviour
- Proven ability to drive away list members, customers, and would be-non-participants
- Narcisstic propensities
- Delusions of grandeur
- Inability to conduct business, display social skills, or display consideration for standard ethics or principals
- Measured "Ability To Pretend Asshole Type Behaviour" did not occur, and if mentioned, then to quickly relinquish responsibility for one's actions
The contest involves:
Insulting and berating fellow list members
Insulting related potential clients
Ruining one's own reputation within the music business community
Ridiculing posts - any technical inquiries by neophytes are especially desirable
Harassing fellow lists members off list
Displays of unethical business practices
Acquiring and maintaining a reputation for being an asshole and having that reputation sustained and projected to future mellotron owners, future participants of the mellotron community, music business contacts and music fans worldwide.
RULES:
Asshole behaviour can be a one time occurrence but must be noteworthy in severity to count towards MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR designation.
It's recommended however that the behaviour be a repeated and consistent succession of asshole behaviours which can be pointed to and attributed for consistently. A range of actions from insults, ridicule and unethical business practices up to and including inciting malleable minded others to engage in the same practices is strongly recommended.
1ST PRIZE:
The winner will accompany Sarah Palin, Tiger Woods, and the current serving president of the Ku Klux Klan for a re-enactment of the movie "Deliverance" with Eagles members Don Henley and Glen Frey acting as "The Hillbillies" (and intoxicated with very powerful stimulants and libido arousing drugs). Don Henley himself will perform in the position of first "catalyst act".
Note: It is the express wish of Childrens' Aid Societies, various Environmental, Animal Rights, Human Rights, and Family Crisis Management groups worldwide that both sides win.
2ND PRIZE:
The runner up will spend a weekend in an empty, tightly locked and windowless room with Henry Kissinger, Tiger Woods, Sarah Palin, the current serving president of the Ku Klux Klan, and Charles Manson.
Outside contact with the world is not permitted in any form.
Requirements for Food, Water, and Toiletries is the sole responsibility of the residents of the room.
3RD PRIZE:
This runner up gets to participate in extended military pharmaceutical research projects involving various biological and biohazardous agents, corrosives, and radioactive elements. It is the hope of various AIDS and Cancer research laboratories that the cures for these debilitating diseases will be discovered through this series of experiments.
JUDGES AND ORGANIZATION
Winners will be selected through Frank's recently modified and patented "Fuck O' Meter".
which has been re-designed to be used as an ASSHOLE meter. The greater the degree of the asshole behaviour and propensity for such behaviour, the higher the numeric register will be. It has proven to be infallible in a recent contest between Dennis Briefel of MTI and Travis Twit of Coll Audio, who won MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR awards in 2008 and 2002 respectively. Actual e-mail and police phone recordings available upon request through Canada's Freedom Of Information Act.
Clay and an anonymous "Misses Loo-iss" (sic) will assist in the organization, and signage, using Mattias' trademarked "copy, paste, edit, and re-contextualize' e-mail techniques, an example of which is exhibited here from an e-mail of astute observation:

The few panel judges will be ex-list members who left our lists between the years 1999 and 2010, numbering in the range of about 50-100, and have and hold various grievances and grudges towards current and past list members and contest winners.
(Editors note: I also hope to win this contest via my post here, though I apparently have a lot of catching up to do, and hopefully the mere mention of this contest puts me in good 'asshole' stead with that select few of you.)
Lastly, additional responses to this e-mail will be counted towards submission of application to the MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR contest. Any and all parties through their responses agree to hold, indemnify, and save harmless the party editors and organizers of the MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR contest and any of thier representatives, families, associates, and colleagues in perpetuity. Any submissions become the property of the editors, holders, and organizers of MELLOTRON ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR contest and can be copied, edited, stored, retrieved, and reproduced in perpetuity for the purposes of advertisement and testament to the character of would be applicant(s), and or to be used as evidence in a court of law.
