It is "well-known" that some of the black models are noisy. The white model is newer and has been reported to be quieter. Which do you own? In fact, I have a white version, which in my opinion is a little noisier than my other similar, but quiet white version. I think it is best to keep the volume at least quite near to maximum level and then adjust a suitable level on the mixer. You could try a hum eliminator. It might work.
