I have in and out connected from the MP-7 to the soundcard s gameport. it s just one cable with the jack for the gameport and the two midi ends for IN and OUT.

... You need to connect 2 MIDI cables for sysex transfers to work - both In and Out. From your description it sounds like you didn t do that.

Well, don t forget you can add your own samples buy creating your own ROMS with an e-mu ultra sampler. You can get a used e5000 for about $500 and a new MP-7
