Add to footswitch jack function: sequence +/-.
Press footswitch to go to next pattern, then press again to go back to
previous pattern. This would allow the other footswitch jack to be free
for some other function, e.g. Stop/start

What about some type of dedicated metronome feature that defaults to one of
the sub outs? This would really help in using the XX-7 with live
instrumentation.

The function where the knobs don't snap the value to the current position, rather they wait

I have yet to hear Aaron speak to this. Is it possible? Is it a simple thing? Extremely
complex? Even if it's not possible, I'd love to hear why.

I think the main reason that there's not a huge bunch of postings for updating the OS is that
most of what we need is already there and seemingly bug-free. Extreme kudos to Aaron for making
this happen.

I would like to see a Copy/Append to function ... Where you could Copy a pattern to itself making it twice as long and still retain it's pattern # ...or... You could APPEND it to another pattern making it into one pattern # ....

This way you could write sections and copy/append them together into full Verse /Chours sections with 1 pattern # ..... Makes things speedy in song mode.....

Need less patterns .... easier to keep track of varitions on Verse/Chours sections.

Heres one pulled over from a future producers question. Transfer
audio thru usb. This way the **7 acts as its own audio interface
plug the usb and record, also that would allow the recording of
other units using the subs! Is the architecture capable of this?

Can't happen, the USB functions on the XX-7 as a slave device only. It's
physically impossible.

For the list:
When in grid record I´d really like to be able to edit the note
duration (like in preset edit-note edit-dur)instead of the gate
percentage. Does any one use the gate percentage in grid record? Is
this an offending suggestion because it means trading one function
for another .
My other worry is that theres not enough space on the screen!

Yeah, i use that for drum stuff sometimes, using the knobs to control gate

Re: [xl7] Re: No more OS ideas?

2004-01-16 by Simon

It would really improve the usability of XL-xx grid mode if the gate
percentage could be set > 100% (E.G. for tie-ing the note to the next).
I trigger drum samples on an external sampler and this would save me
hours every week. As at the moment I have to go into step edit, find the
note and tweak there. PLUS, think about the ease of editing/creating
bass lines etc. in grid method with gate duration's > 100%...

Interestingly/Annoyingly, if you edit a manually played legato track in
grid edit, the note duration shows as 't' so it knows that the note is
tied, but if you edit it, there 't' option disappears. V. Annoying. It
don't think this facility would affect any other functionality.

Just my humble opinion...

Correct me if I´m wrong but you could still tweek the gate on shorter
drum sounds if the units were ticks and not percentages. After all the
machine is for musicians and not mathmeticians.
Question. Whats 72% of a 1/4 note.
We (Aaron) could maybe keep the gate value on the screen and ADD the
duration (tick count) to where GRID is written - after all the grid
light is already illuminated. The duration could be altered with the
data wheel.

interesting idea! I hadn´t thought of that.Yeh man, the more i think
of that....sounds like a juicy feature for running samples......

"I trigger drum samples on an external sampler"
I bet alot of xx7 users do , esp loops.(probably more than gate
percentage users if iI were to hazard a guess). It works much better in
grid don´t you think?

One more OS idea

2004-01-16 by drewaight

I have an Idea for a new OS idea. Be able to play arps on external
devices without rechannelize input. Rechannelize input is a real
headache for me. Heres a perfect example.... I have my effects preset
on track 16 for realtime effects processing, However I want more
delay on another track say 5. I have to select track 16 and with
rechannelize on it means I have to stop playing my midi controller or
else it will play the channel 16 efx preset. This makes it impossible
to do real "realtime" effects on solos.

Aaron I know you like rechannelize input a lot, but believe me it is
a very amateur feature. My A-37 is more than capable of changing
banks and MIDI channels without needing the MP-7 to "rechannelize"
it. Unfortunately there is no current workaround so if I use my
command station to control other devices it therefore reduces my
high end MIDI controller to a one channel device because the MP-7
hijacks whatever it puts out.

Re: [xl7] One more OS idea

2004-01-16 by Greg Waltzer

Why don't you just turn off rechannelize?
It's only a convenience anyway.

you see young paduwan this cannot be done without rechannelize on.

Master Jedi, I think you need to press the arp button and scroll to
arp/riff midi out and adjust the setting to *transmit* then turn off
your rechannelise input and with the power of the force your arps will
play on your external gear.
It does on mine at least, and I´m no Yoda.Maybe you have a midi loop
happnin!
