Hi, When I'm in song mode and I hold erase and press a trackmute button to erase that track it doesn't do it. I am using O.S. 2. Also when I go to song edit menu and go to erase track, I can only choose track 1. Thanks

You can't edit patterns while in song mode. Simply press the pattern mode button, erase the track, save, and go back to song mode. I'm not sure, but erase+track in song mode might erase the same numbered channel, but maybe not. -Aaron --- designer72003 <designer72003@...> wrote: > When I'm in song mode and I hold erase and press a trackmute button > to erase that track it doesn't do it. I am not using patterns in my song. I'm just realtime recording a song. Any suggestions on how to erase one track?? In pattern mode erase track works as its supposed to, but not in song mode. Thanks again.

Song Mode only has ONE track, though it can have up to 16 channels on it. That's why you can't erase more than one, that's all there is. rEalm I'm not trying to edit a pattern, I'm trying to edit the song. I am not using patterns in my song. The Song Mode track (I think Emu calls it the conductor track) can use up to 999 measures if I remember correctly, so you should be fine on that count. As for track counts, you need to think of it like this. The Song Mode of the XX-7's really is intended to use Patterns for the majority of the sequencing, and as you know those have up to 32 MIDI channels available on 16 MIDI tracks. In addition, Song Mode also has ONE 16 channel track that can be used to record sequences that are independant of the Pattern data, or things like controller moves that go the length of the song (poor man's automation). But, there's nothing you can do to get 16 tracks in song mode without using a Pattern. If you remember that Tracks and Channels are completely seperate entities, then this isn't really a problem since that ONE song track has 16 MIDI channels you can use to sequence data. Just set the Track destination to MultiA in the Song Edit menu, and now you can use all 16 channels to record data. rEalm --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, erik_magrini@B... wrote: > Song Mode only has ONE track, though it can have up to 16 channels on it. > That's why you can't erase more than one, that's all there is. > > rEalm > How can I record a song with 16 tracks and more than 32 measures?? I'm somewhat ashamed to say no. I looked through trying to find a workaround, but I can't think of one that's reasonable. The only thing I could suggest is to work 32 bars at a time in pattern mode, then use "Combine Selected Tracks to Clipboard", then paste that into your song. If you need to go back and edit something, copy up to 32 bars from the song and explode onto an empty patter, edit, then perform the above steps. Though, now that I've mentioned it, that's a fantastic way to flatten internal only patterns *into* your song... -Aaron --- designer72003 <designer72003@...> wrote: > > Is there a way to delete seperate song channels without > > deleting all 16 channels?? > > Anyone???? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Thanks Aaron, I think I will try that. I think I will try making each part of the song (verse 1, chorus, verse 2, etc.) as seperate patterns and then paste them together. If that doesn't work well I still could use a computer sequencer. Thanks again. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Aaron Eppolito <synthesis77@y...> wrote: > I'm somewhat ashamed to say no. At the risk of telling you how to write your music, you might want to try using patterns in your songs instead of copying them into the song. Thinking in building blocks can be a very powerful thing. By making verse & chorus patterns, you'll find it's very easy to alter song structure. You do know that you can chain together patterns in song mode with song step edit, right? Anyway, just something to think about. Good luck! -Aaron --- designer72003 <designer72003@...> wrote: > Thanks Aaron, > I think I will try that.
