Rest Measure ?

Rest Measure ?

2004-11-14 by José Sáez

Three Newbie Questions.

-Is possible to create a rest measure when loop recording in real time ?

It's a feature that it's found in the MC505 and that i miss in the XL7.

-It's possible to start recording on the press of a note ? i also miss this feature.

And finally, when working in grid mode, is there any way to work with only one measure instead of working with the whole 8 (or more) measures ? The notes just go to fast to be able to work with them in a useful way. I know that pressing play the pattern stops and i can edit the pattern, but i cannot longer hear it !

Cheers,
Jose (enjoying my xl7 since a week)

no (to the best of my knowledge anyway.. would be nice though)
yes
yes

what OS do you have in your xl-7?

if you have OS 2.0 installed you can do the last two things..

hit record then move the cursor over the cntln field..
turn the data entry wheel until the quauter note appears..
hit a key and recording starts

you can turn it on by pressing and holding tap and pressing the stop
button..
you can also access it in the pattern menu..

enstall OS 2.0!!!
read the manual addendum..

enjoy!

Thanks, i found the quarter note and now it works OK. (OS 2.0)

For the rest measure i decided to work with 5 measure tracks and then delete the last measure (doh !).

I still can't figure out how to work one measure at a time...

Jose.

Why does everyone always ask this? Simply set your pattern length to
9. Voila. Instant measure of rest after 8 bars.

As someone mentioned, the addendum really is your friend.

Tap+Select = set start loop point
Tap+Edit = set end loop point
Tap+Stop = toggle loop section on/off

The select and edit buttons are the ones on either side of the 7
segment LED display. Alternatively, the 4th menu of the Pattern Edit
menu will let you specify all of these things. Simply set the start
and end bar to be the same, turn it on, and you will loop that measure.

Once you get comfortable, with loop off, you can hit Tap+Select+Edit
then Tap+Stop to loop the current measure. (essentially set the start
and end to the current measure and start looping)
