OT: E6400 question

OT: E6400 question

2002-10-10 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Is it true that Ultra samplers will only import Emu and Akai sample
libraries via the CD ROM? Is there no way other than SCSI (or floppy,
ich!) to get raw wav files into the sampler? I've got a great hook up for
a E6400 Ultra in the works, but that limitation could be a problem if it's
true. Anyone here know?

I was hoping to load a bunch of loops onto a CDr and load them that way.

But if I hear you right, I could put the E6400 internal HD into my
computer, format it as FAT32, then copy my samples onto it. Remove it
from the computer, put it back into the sampler and all the loops would be
there?

The E6400 Ultra can import Akai S1000/S3000, Roland S-7xx, Ensoniq
ASR-10 banks and E-MU legacy sampler's banks, presets and samples via
SCSI - CD-ROM or Harddrives.

The E6400 Ultra can load its native banks (E4) via SCSI or floppy.

The E6400 can import and export wav and AIFF files to/from a FAT 32
formatted hardrive.

The E6400 supports SMIDI, which allows you send files from Soundforge,
Peak or Recyle via SCSI into it.

Lastly, we are plan on releasing a USB slave card which will connect up
to our new software Emulator sampler. This will allow you transfer files
back and forth as well.

What other way do you want to get samples into the E6400 Ultra?

If it reads CD-ROM and HD via SCSI why wouldn't it work with CD-R? Does the CD have to be in a proprietary format?

Hi Sean,

I just wanted to ask you at EMU sth. regarding the planned USB-Card:
Please include support for older samplers such as E-Synth Rack etc. in order that
they can benefit from this new feature (if possible anyway).
I am very glad with my E-Synth and don't want to replace it (don't have
the money again, too).

Quick question..

I have an E5000 as well as an MP 7. Is there any
possible way that Emu would allow sample editing while
the sequencer is running? Currenty.. editing a sample
disables all presets. Even when using the E5000 as a
sound module!! Strange because this is a MAJOR flaw
that prevents these samplers from being far beyond the
rest. for example, you are running 10
tracks/presets.. you sample a drum, you must make a
decision whether you would like to tweak the drum or
listen to the sequence. Geez my old asr 10 can do
this. Does Emu know how many people will not buy
these samplers from this alone? I wouldnt have bought
it. Despite it being the best sampler regarding
everything else. C'mon Emu..

R

Also the 'repeat' function on the MP 7 should allow
you to 'repeat' without being in record mode.

Yeah, Akai or Emu.
