Does anyone here have a AT43DK355 USB development kit ?

Does anyone here have a AT43DK355 USB development kit ?

I am getting no response from Atmel,

I sold my development machine, so I could use the laptop (means I can
write code when I am in hospital etc)

But I can not program the EEPROM on the dev board by the parallel port,
the ISP program just locks up :o(

It looks like I am going to have to build an EEPROM programmer running
off the serial port :o(

I can not see what the problem is (apart from the SCK signal not being
stable)

The laptop is an Acer Travelmate 220 running winxp.

Any ideas ?

I am thinking maybe making it dual boot into win98 and trying that hmmm
might just pull the HDD and put my 650Mb hdd in and see if I can get
win98 on that lol

Regards,
Kat.

Probably some windoze crap polling the port for external printers/drives etc.
Disable it.

I tried that, made no difference :o(

Seems like the laptop has something different, Port voltage is 5V so it
is not the dreaded 3.3V interface problems.

Even under win98 it did not work :o(

I am running out of ideas (plus I never tried it on the old dev machine,
so it could be faulty from manufacture, but Atmel has QC ??)

ARRRGGHHHHH

If there was slightly more documentation I may have half a chance :o(

Kat.

I assume you have no CRO in hospital? With a cro, you could test the
port if you can find some freeware to manipulate the pins. Could you
try a port converter on a usb output?

Acer, say no more, wouldn't use an acer computer even if they wanted
to pay me to.I regard Acer worse than goldstar.
(Time for new laptop ? or pcmcia parallel port card)

You do have a port driver installed for winxp?

You haven't installed other software like xilinx webpack
that messes with the parallel ports.

May be worth reinstalling the parallel port driver.

Also is the irq for the parallel port shared or not ?

Also try normal mode, or ecc + ecp

portnt95.exe www.winpicprog.co.uk driver
usally works no problems.

http://www.lpilsley.freeserve.co.uk/download/port95nt.exe
or
ftp://ftp.keithley.com/pub/metrabyte/unsupport/port95nt.exe

Some laptops have a "windows" parallel port.
partially emulated in software.
Costs a few cents less for ther manufacturer.

Do you have a meter or even a led so
you can test the outputs from the parallel port ?

Tried linux ?
zipslack is easy, can boot from inside windows.

Not in hospital right now luckily :o)

Am trying to find someone with a USB adaptor :o)

The pins appear to be changing state, which is why I am not sure, the
signals from the parallel port go into a GAL so with out the code for
that, I am not sure what is meant to happen :o(

Kat.

Yeap DLPortIO is installed (as that is what the programmer wants (even
under win 9.X)

Nope and no printers either (hmmm might go try and install a printer and
see if that helps ;o)

Done that 3 times now.

Done that.

Could be a problem

Will do that tomorrow.

Nope, if I was to try anything it would have to be PicoBSD ;o) (runs
from a floppy :o)

I assume you are connecting the USB kit via USB port on the laptop. If so,
do you have ActiveSync running? ActiveSync may interfere with the USB port.

All the USB does at this stage is powers the dev board.
The EEPROM is programmed via the Parallel port (I think I could have made a program to wiggle Serial port lines cheaper, only need 3 out and one in lol)
