I am trying to use a FCB1010 with a Boss VF-1 simply to switch banks, patches and control volume. So far it is baffling to me. Mainly need help how to configure the VF-1 to recognize an expression pedal on the FCB1010. I was doing fine with a Digitech Control 8 and set the VF-1 to MIDI 7 for the expression pedal in each patch. But I like the 10 patch switches of the FCB1010 much better. Just need to get one of the expression pedals going. Thanks, David Spangler in Texas

Hi David, I also use a fbc with my vf-1. It is seems so complex at the beginning, but it is not ! To use a pedal for expression, -on vf-1, go to the master section of the patch in question. -select the related assign number (assign 1, 2 and etc) -select the target (wah manual, foot volume etc) -target min and max should be 0 and 100 -do not select source type as exp pedal, you should select the midi channel number here, like you said mid-7. This is the main trick in here -source mode should be normal -source min and max should be 0 and 127 Now you should configure the fcb, -you will either use 8th or 9th button- -for related patch, you will select the related exp pedal number by pushing it for 3 seconds in configuration mode -after the light comes, push once for editing the parameters, this time the light blinks -press "up" button once -when number light blinks at the panel, you should enter the midi channel number (same number that you entered to vf-1) -press "up" button again -then "value" light blinks at panel - you should enter the source min and max consecutively same as you entered to vf-1 -after each section press "up" for saving parameters -at the end press down for 3 secnds. This is how I configure it out. Regards... Cagan --- spangler1941 <spangler@...> wrote: > I am trying to use a FCB1010 with a Boss VF-1 simply > to switch banks, > patches and control volume. Hi there, Nowadays I've a plan to upgrade my equipment. But I'm not really sure with which configuration does VF-1 works best for me. Actually, my band plays hard-rock and heavy metal (ozzy, skid row, whitesnake, deep purple etc etc). But I also like to play old rock legends (pink floyd, led zeppelin, doors), blues and jazz stuff. In this context, I need some variety and flexibility when creating sounds. So, my question is: -What is the best performance for using VF-1, its amp simulations and etc? a)A full tube amp head with a good cabinet, where I can use my vf-1 from its fx loop? b) A mixer, a power amp, and good monitors where I can directly plug-in the vf-1 c) A valvestate or tube combo with several effects on it d) A Tech21 TP-60, which is a power-amp combo (no effects, ODs or distortions etc) What do you use and prefer in my situation (please recommend brands and models if possible :) ) ? Regards... Cagan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Hi Cagan, Thanks for the help! After hours of reading the original manual and attempting to get an expression pedal to work for volume, I almost gave up. Then, I downloaded the current manual from the Behringer website. I followed the instructions to calibrate the expression pedals and, immediately, expression pedal A began working as a volume pedal. Now, Im hoping to figure out how to use expression pedal B as a toggle for the tuner. So far, no luck. Have you tried this? Thanks again, David _____

Hi, I think you figured it out. I did not tried to toggle the tuner but it's all the same method. I mean, first of all you should designate a mid channel number to related function on the vf-1 by editing the assings at the master section. Then you should enter the same channel number to the related patch's 8th button on fcb. The other parameters can be used as default. --- David Spangler <spangler@...> wrote: > Hi Cagan, > > > > Thanks for the help! > > > > After hours of reading the original manual and > attempting to get an > expression pedal to work for volume, I almost gave > up.
