Hello, new guy here. Was wondering about this: I have a beat-up cz1000. The "write" function is operational, but I lose any info once I turn it off, even if I keep it plugged in. Is this normal, or am I in need of repair?

Hi, you need a new battery that preserves the RAM from being lost. Unfortunately, I do not know (yet) how to change it; my CZ-1 is still reliable after 16 years. However, that should be a small problem. Hellmuth

Hi, Replacing the bateries is easier than you thought. There is a battery hatch on the botom of the keyboard. It takes 6 D cell (maybe C cells) flashlight batteries. If your batteries haven't run all the way down, you have a small amount of time to get the new batteries in before you lose the memory. Hi Nathan, > Replacing the bateries is easier than you thought. There is a battery > hatch on the botom of the keyboard. I gather the CZ 1000 and/or CZ-101 could work on batteries, but the memory saving battrey is usually a small one hidden in the synth! Hellmuth

No, Nathan's correct, there is no little back-up battery, you just need to replace the 6 large batteries in the hatch underneath, and you will then be able to retain your patches. Well--- After the suggestion that I actually, y'know, LOOK at the damn thing (y'know, like, flip it over), I indeed discovered a small battery hatch with 3 terribly corroded AA batteries within. Haven't replaced them yet, but I'm assuming that doing so will do the trick. Thanks for the help... m >From: Stephen Scott <stevoj@...> >Reply-To: CZsynth@yahoogroups.com >To: CZsynth@yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: [CZsynth] Re: Incredibly basic question. >Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2002 05:10:31 -0800 (PST) > >No, Nathan's correct, there is no little back-up >battery, you just need to replace the 6 large >batteries in the hatch underneath, and you will then >be able to retain your patches. > >Stephen > >--- msg@... wrote: > > Hi Nathan, > > > > > > > Replacing the bateries is easier than you thought. > > There is a battery > > > hatch on the botom of the keyboard. Thanks for the help... > That happened to me, the problem is the corrosion killed the ability of the cz101 to use any batteries. I just leave it plugged in now, but I noticed that when I leave it unplugged for somewhat-but-not-too-long periods of time it still retains patch memory. So there's something inside that has some memory life.
