If this is the problem, I apologize. This is called 'malware' Bill - and you should never click on a link unless you're absolutely sure what it does!! You should be running some kind of protection against this sort of thing - see <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware> hth -- Take care . . . Brian

I would hope that the list owner steps in and moderates this discussion. It is both off topic and is very self-serving. If you guys want to bash windows (or anything else), please go somewhere else. This used to be a nice community, then there is one instance of spam, and a few of you seize on the opportunity to bash windows. I think this topic is really old and worn out. Everything bad about Windows has been well know for ages. There are only variations on a theme. It might be interesting to see how much the windows bashers have contributed to the benefit of Casio CZ/VZ/FZ users over the years. If you don't have something nice to say, please take it somewhere else. Just my opinion--nothing more, nothing less. BTW, if your mailing lists are so full of hopelessly inept people, why don't you just stop doing the mailing lists and stop complaining about the users on the lists in a forum devoted to Casio synths? --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, Gordon JC Pearce <gordon@...> wrote:

Well, I've repaired a few dozen CZs, and I've got a GUI patch editor that might actually run on PCs built this century in the pipeline. It's written in Python so there's a very real chance that someone with the time and enthusiasm can get it working in Windows, even (I don't run Windows here and I don't know anyone that does, so I can't test it). > BTW, if your mailing lists are so full of hopelessly inept people, why don't you just stop doing the mailing lists and stop complaining about the users on the lists in a forum devoted to Casio synths? Because the vast majority of the users know not to click on dodgy links, know not to run Outlook Express in Windows ME, know not to forward every damn "ZOMG CLICK ON THIS IT'S AMAZING! INTERNET JESUS WEEPS REAL TEARS!" email to world+dog and most of the time they contain useful, helpful discussions. -- Gordonjcp MM0YEQ

I chose my reply to avoid (my usual??) anti-m$ stuff, Gordon - but I participate in dozens of lists on a variety of levels, and know exactly where you're coming from. I get a lot as digests, so my favourite peeve with lists is folks who top-post without thinking:P New members (on any list) should spend the first month in digest mode?? But seriously, Bill, there's a lot of good free stuff to help, try cnet/download.com?? The message probably didn't actually come from your friend, just spoofed his address?? -- Take care . . . Brian

Well, I've repaired a few dozen CZs, and I've got a GUI patch editor
that might actually run on PCs built this century in the pipeline. It's
written in Python so there's a very real chance that someone with the
time and enthusiasm can get it working in Windows, even (I don't run
Windows here and I don't know anyone that does, so I can't test it).

Because the vast majority of the users know not to click on dodgy links,
know not to run Outlook Express in Windows ME, know not to forward every
damn "ZOMG CLICK ON THIS IT'S AMAZING! INTERNET JESUS WEEPS REAL TEARS!"
email to world+dog and most of the time they contain useful, helpful
discussions.
