Backing up DTXT2S

Backing up DTXT2S

2004-07-25 by vl2000_us

Hello,

I have searched the archives and found nothing related to backing up
data. Additionally, I have read through my manual several times and
found nothing.

Since I am new to this whole e-drum experience, it's going to take me
a long time and a lot of trial and error to get this set just right.
I see that the DTXT2S module has a USB port to connect to a PC.

Is there any way that once I create my ultimate kit, I can backup the
entire settings onto my PC in case of emergency?

Thank you in advance for any knowledge of this.

Vick

To clarify... I mean OTHER than purchasing the 2 recommended
SmartMedia cards. I am referring to directly connecting to my
computer and outputting to my hard drive.

Thx!
Vick

Yes, you can store direct to PC. At DTXpessions, we have a program
called DTXchange that you can download to receive data from your
module. It was designed for the DTXpress, but it should work for the
DTXTIIS as well. The manual should explain how to back up and
exchange specific data to an external device.

Great, thx! I will check that out asap! I have this recurring nighmare of spending weeks on end getting everything set up right and then losing it all in a microsecond flash of static electricity or accidentally hitting the delete button!

One nice feature of these things is that they don't have a delete
button per se. Once you've saved something, which is usually a two-
step process, you can't lose it by doing something wrong, only by
saving something else in its place. I have yet to hear of anyone
losing settings because of an electrical spike, but it is a good idea
to run a module through a surge protector just to make sure. On rare
occasions, however, people have had to perform a factory reset to
undo a a hidden programming glitch or bug that has damaged kit
response, frozen a MIDI function, etc., in which case all of their
user-selected kits fall by the wayside unless they have been saved to
their PCs or another MIDI device. Just to offer some comfort, I, like
many others, have never had to reset, even after many years and three
modules' worth of tweaking and experimenting way beyond anything
suggested by the factory. But comforting numbers mean nothing if
something weird happens to you.
