After thorough research I'm going to buy a 2nd Epson dedicated to BW printing and will make the decision later this week after viewing various outputs. Looks like an 1160/860 is the way to go with a dedicated quadtone BW ink set from MIS. Will this ink work well with Epson Premium Glossy Paper? Rick

This is one of the best glossy papers that I have found with the piezo quads. I just installed MIS FSN inks...but haven't tried the glossy papers yet...but my guess is that the performance will be similar. Its important to note that glossy papers REQUIRE an over spray after you print them. All the papers I've tried (which is most of them) smear if not sealed. The EPG has relatively little bronzing and smear...but does require sealing. There is no reticulation that I can see. I use Krylon UV Resistant spray (1305) to seal them. If you really want glossy BW prints, I suggest you check out the Lyson dye inks. You will have to make up your own mind on the longevity (they should outlast any color print, but won't come close to the life of "carbon pigment" <g>. You can see the estimates for various ink/paper combos on the Lyson site. They make fantastic looking prints...won't bet my soul on how long they last.
