Good Epson Paper Source

Good Epson Paper Source

2002-05-23 by Doug Fisher

I just wanted to pass along what appears to be a good source for Epson
papers. The company is called atlex.com. They shipped via UPS ground from
FL to Atlanta in two days (actually 1.5). They had the lowest prices around
after a search on the net. I called them to check for "gotcha" shipping
charges but their shipping charges were also the most reasonable around. My
8 lb shipment was only 5.91. That means I paid $12.60 per box of Epson
Archival Matte 8.5x11 INCLUDING SHIPPING (they do have a $25 min order).

I have no affiliation with this company but just thought I would pass the
info. along for others who need good service and also need to watch the
bottom $$ line.

Here is the direct link: http://www.atlex.com/Epson/more/archival_matte.htm

Totally Agree. Their prices are great, and their shipping costs
are "real" costs, not inflated.

Re: [Digital BW] colourneg vs B&W

2002-05-25 by Larry Ostrom

Greetings: I have a portrait job coming up, usually I shoot 120
delta 100 with the hasselblad. Scan with the sprintscan120, 4000dpi.
Output with an epson 7000, Lysonic ink, epson enhanced matte paper.
I'm thinking of shooting colour neg. instead, kodak 160 portra nc.
Then using Russell Browns conversion method to B&W. Anyone done any
tests or comparisons between the B&W or colour neg. like this?
I'm not trying to start a "B&W vs. Colour war", just curious as to
sharpness differences, ease of use, etc.

Color lists?

2002-05-25 by Jean-Michel Paris

Are there lists on the Web that are focussed on inkjet color printing
and which compare in substance, level and participation to our
"DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint" list?

try http://groups.yahoo.com/group/archivalcolor
or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/digital-fineart

Both are good lists.

Re: [Digital BW] colourneg vs B&W

Larry,

I do a lot of business head shots where the client
needs B&W, but I mostly use Portra 160 NC, or even
Provia 100F (they'll usually purchase more for
personal use if they have the option for color).

I use channel mixer mostly, but sometimes the Russell
Brown method for conversion. Both work fine. Most of
my clients are thrilled that they can order both B&W
and color. So, in other words, it works great for
portraits, but I'm not sure what the fine art
photographers prefer.
