Is anyone using the Canon i950 or i960 for BW printing and can you comment
on what you are seeing?

piezotone selenium tone 1280 cartridge

2004-01-31 by D. Hill

Hi everyone - I'm a UT2 convert (all the
true-believers shout an amen) and have a new 1280
Selenium Tone Grey position cartridge for the
R9/Piezography Plug-In that I will not be using.

Contact me off list if you would like it for $20.

Re: [Digital BW] piezotone selenium tone 1280 cartridge

Don,

Hear, hear!! - I got the 1280 with UT2 going this weekend and am gleefully
joining the True Believer ranks. Hats off to Paul and his collaborators at
MIS! What a relief it will be without printer troubles. My darkroom is now
an inkroom I'm afraid. Now what to do with all those bottles and carts of
ink I don't need?

I also have the Piezo plug-in to compare to and find UT2 to be in the same
league. I was pleased with piezo quads but never got the hex set to behave
in my 1200.

I've been doing EAM and other similar matte papers with Eboni and a couple
on EPS with a spray coat and they are best-ever. I like the plain vanilla
tone of the UT2 inks without warming further. I'd like to be able to get a
really extra warm sepia when I need it though.

Inkroom or darkroom

Join the club.

I must admit, however, that I got very nostalgic when reading the thread on
the Polaroid film. I used to use the Type 55 P/N a lot and was thinking
that might be a fun way to get back into 4x5.

(I do still use my darkroom for developing my roll film.)

Paul,

Based on the types of images you seem to point your camera at, I would definitely pick up some 55 and give it a try. It's simplicity itself to use (if you develop, later, at home) and scans quite nicely on just about any flatbed out there. I use it with a Toho 4x5, a few lightweight lenses, and a carbon tripod...this combo cannot be beat, IMHO, for field work. It all fits in a fairly small backpack that can easily be carried all day.

Despite recent predictions of Type 55's imminent death, I hope it's around for, at least, the remainder of my life.
