HELP: CFS for 890

HELP: CFS for 890

2004-06-16 by Richard Vanek

Dear friends,

anybody installed MIS CFS for 890 or 870 printer?

I am just about to install CFS for my epson photo 890. I unwrap tube
bracket and wanted to glue it 4 3/8" (11.1cm) from right side, when I
realize I can't take cartridges out than because left side of tube
bracket is going far much too left and leaving not enough space for
removing cartridges. It goes (on left side) about 1.3" (3cm) further
than extra space is made in plastic of printer for removing of the
cartridges.

I am afraid that I have received tube bracket for epson 1280. Is that
possible has CFS for 1280 different size (length) of tube bracket
than 890?

I would expect that tube bracket should finished on left side at the
place where opening in plastic is little bigger for cartridges.

The length of tube bracket I have is 5" (12.7cm) In case is too long
can I just cut it?

Thank you for your help.

Just take a hacksaw to your existing bracket until it fits. It sounds
like you may have gotten a 1280 bracket. All you need is a small piece
to hold the tubes up out of the way.

You can ask MIS but it's easier to cut yours down to fit rather than
sending it back for a replacement. look at the photos on the MIS
website. If your's doesn't look like the one for the 890 shown there,
just cut it down till it does.

Bob,

thanks for the answer.

I was thinking about to cut it because based on picture from MIS web
site both tube bracket for 890 and 1280 ends on left side exactly at
place where extending area is made in plastic printer part to allow
remove of the cartridges.

I just wanted to be sure so I asked here people with CFS on 890 and
1280 if it is really true and what length of the tube bracket they
have.

Sure. I wrote to MIS on their forum as well as submit support ticket.
Not real answer so far, so I didn't finished CFS installation
yesterday.

I still do not know if there are two different length of tube bracket
for 890 and 1280. So please if you have CFS for epson 1280 or epson
890 could you send me length of your tube bracket?

Thank you!

I was browsing MIS web page once more and I have found that correct
name for the pastic part I was talking about is Bridge Bracket.

From http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/1280bb.html I can
see that there are two types for 1280 and for 890 epson printer.

MIS has changed the bracket since they made my 1280 CFS. Mine is only
about 1" wide (now long) and worked on either a 1280 or 890 by
locating it differently. It appears your new bracket allows you to
close the lid. I just took my lid off and put it in the closet several
years ago.

It appears you've found the photo of the 890 bracket on the MIS site
at http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/cfs_890_new.html
Also one of the 1280 bracket at
http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/cfs_1280_new.html

I bet they sent you the 1280 bracket but you could easily make it into
the 890 one with a hacksaw. The length certainly is not critical
unless it's too long as it appears yours is.

Bob,

thank you!

At the end I just shorten Bridge Bracket about 3/4 of inch so it
ends at place where more space in plastic of printer is made for
replacing of the cartridges.

I am now happily running CFS on my 890 with UT2.
