My 2200 flashes all its LED's red, and will not print. I understand this means the waste pad counter has reached its limit. I've tried the method where you hold down the roll and paper advance buttons on startup, but that does not work. I believe that works only on older printers. My searching to find a newer method only turns up URL's that are no longer active. Can anyone help? Thanks, Terry.

Well, I managed to get my waste pad couter reset but I still have flashing lights. It appears I have a more serious problem. Perhaps it's time to hit e-bay for a replacement 2200. Terry.

Hello Terry, I had the same problem with my 2200 and flashing lights. I ended up taking it in to a local printer repair place. It is not Epson authorized but a place where I sent all our printers in my former position as Technology Coord. They researched and were not able to repair it. I suggest that you try the Epson site for a refurbished 2200 before EBay. I did and got a 2200 with a 1-year factory warranty. Nancy

The Epson Store doesn't have any more refurbed 2200s or 220s for that matter. They had them before the holidays and I thought I'd treat myself to a 2200 after I paid off my holiday credit card debt. They disappeared some time in January. You snooze you lose:( But I keep checking back. Scott

I checked also, but they do have a refurbished 2400 and a refurbished 1800, if anyone is interested. Nancy --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "scottkathe1" <scott.kathe@...> wrote:

I just sent you a screen shot with instructions for resetting the waste pad counter and the eprom. Try resetting the eprom but I think that you have a fatal error Walt

Walt. . . the EEPROM and Timer IC reset did the trick! You just saved me $400 for a new-used printer. Much appreciated. In case anyone else runs into this, here's what happened. My waste ink counter hit the limit. I was able to make one print before the flashing lights would start (on print #2) and then I would need to cycle the power. I could then do the same all over again (one print only). I searched the net for the reset sequence and one suggestion was to use the SSCserve utility. I did this and it appeared that I had successfully reset the waste pad counter (in fact I had). However, doing that messed something else up. Now I could not even get a single print out. The flashing lights appeared the same roughly, but now I was getting a fatal error. I purchased and downloaded the 2200 Service Manual and ran Epson's utility to re-reset the waste pad counter. Indeed it was fine, but now I was getting a fatal error. This was getting into the wee hours last night and all I could see were hardware issues that would cause this. However, I did wonder if the SSCserve utility had created a new problem. I ran the EEPROM and Timer IC reset using the screen shot that Walt sent and I'm back in business, first try. Now all I need to do is deal with the rash of nozzle clogs I've been getting, but that's another problem. Thanks again Walt, and also the others who offered suggestions. Terry.

Have the screen shot and instructions for resetting the waste pad counter and eprom been posted somewhere? Paul www.PaulRoark.com Terry Ritz wrote:

Just saw this today: http://inksupply.helpserve.com/index.php? _m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=103 (but I think you tried this solution) http://www.2manuals.com/reset_wip.php (and an older solution, but it tells you how to get additional support) Nancy > Have the screen shot and instructions for resetting the waste pad counter

Here's what finally got me out of trouble, and the site I wish I had found to start. . . http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/servicemanuals.html You can download the Epson 2200 service manual for $10 there. The download includes the Epson Printer Adjustment program which will let you reset the Waste Ink Counter properly (amoung other things). The service manual contains a page with the EPROM and Timer IC Reset instructions that Walt was kind enough to send me as a PDF (didn't even realize it was there) and a front panel method of resetting the Waste Ink Counter. The manual will prove to be handy for a number of other things as well. Take care, Terry.

Hi! > http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/servicemanuals.html > > You can download the Epson 2200 service manual for $10 there. The download > includes the Epson Printer Adjustment program which will let you reset the > Waste Ink Counter properly (amoung other things). I bought my service manual (15 USD) and service programme (USD 10) here http://www.2manuals.com so, if your USD 10 purchase includes the programme, it is a much better deal :) But more to the point, I totally agree that this service manual is a must read for anyone serious about his her 2100/2200. It includes information that should have been part and parcel of the regular epson user manual (HTML or otherwise). Also, I recommend that you use the service programme to check the adjustments of your printer. These are sort of similar to the standard head alignment procedure but go much "deeper". The procedures are described in the PDF section "Adjustments" and under the adjustments TAB of the service programme. The manual is quite cryptic at times and it takes a while to understand the correct order of the procedures, but it is definitely worthwhile. It lets you check such things as Platten gap adjustment, Head angle alignment, bi-directional printing alignment etc. Most of these things can be adjusted by the user without too much trouble, but some of them require special epson tools. But even if one is not prepared to carry out the adjustments, the service programme lets you determine if the printer needs service. For instance, I discovered that my 2100 was seriously out of whack in all respects. Unfortunately, also the platten gap is out of whack - and this can be adjusted only with the help of a special platten gap adjustment gauge at an authorised Epson service. Again, I think that Epson should have included this possibility to print out test patterns with their standard driver/service utilities, so that the end users knows if the printer has an adjustment problem. After my experience, I suspect that there may be a lot of Epson 2200/2100 printer owners that are less than happy with their printouts (because there is no standard to compare to) and think that these are the limits of what their printer can do, when actually the printer is not adjusted correctly. Also I could imagine, that problems like microbanding and head alignment difficulties may be caused by poor adjustment. To end my seemingly endless tirade, when I buy my next printer, the service manual and service programme will be a mandatory part of my purchase. Best regards Didzis
