Who's using Eboni 3-MK R800/R1800

Gotta say I love the Arches #140 Bright White HP printed on a R800 with
Eboni.

I printed a few portraits this afternoon.Looks to have better dmax and
contrast than the Epson Enhanced Matte (or whatever Epson's calling it
at this time!).

What paper comes close to giving the same look as this Arches?

I love the warm tones for portraits.

(Paul: Thanks for doing all the "dirty work" that allows the rest of us
to print the highest quality photographs. Easily and at low cost, too!)

So, it must load OK for you.

Compare MIS Alpha (Innova Soft Texture) and Arches, the last two graphs at
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/R1800-No-OBA-Paper.pdf This paper may be
cheaper, but I'm, again, not sure about how well it'll load.

Well, when I printed some 4x5" test prints, there was no problems
with loading.

However, this morning when I loaded an 8.5x11" sheet, the R800 passed
the paper through the printer without printing.

Then, I reloaded the sheet and it started to print. Then the printer
stopped printing after about being 3/4 done, and passed the sheet
through the printer.

So, I've un-installed QTR and then re-installed QTR.

I haven't tried to make a print yet, but I'll let you know later
today when I do.

Quick question: If you lay side_by_side Enhanced Matte and PremierArt
210 Dual Sided Matte, which paper is warmer in tone?

Thanks,
Scott

Yes, the Arches 140 needs help to be loaded. It seems as if I grab
the paper while it's being loaded, the resistance allows the printer
to grab the paper properly.

This isn't a "deal breaker" for me.

Also, in case it matters, my R800 is one of the very first models
that was produced. I don't know if there has been any mods done by
Epson since they first released this model.

FWIW, I'm using the latest drivers from Epson.

Scott,

From my experience with the R800, I would guess that the problem you
encountered -- the printer passing the paper through -- is hardware
rather than software related. I have had it happen with the Epson
driver and with QTR. I think it is a mechanical problem rather than
software. It is frustrating, but I find if you just keep at it a
reasonable percentage print. That does not say much for the
construction of the printer, but it does work.

Hi Steve,

Are you using your R800 for 3_MK printing?

If so, what ink are you using and are you getting good nozzle checks?

Thanks,
Scott

Steve,

Have you ever gotton this error message while using QTR:

ImageToRaster has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

What causes that error...?

BTW, if you don't click either option on that error message, the
printer keeps printing. So, I wait til the print is completed.

Hi Scott,

I use the R800 with neutral K7 Piezography inks at this point, but
used it for color printing in the past. As I mentioned, I have had
paper feed issues with a both the Epson color inks and the NK7 inks.
Fortunately, I have not had problems with nozzle checks with either.

Regards,

Steve

Scott,

I have not gotten that message using QTR. In fact, I have not had QTR
problems of any sort with the 800. However, this issue goes well
beyond my level of expertise, such as it is.
