Harmon Gloss FB AL & Epson 3800 front loading problem

Harmon Gloss FB AL & Epson 3800 front loading problem

2008-02-27 by Derrick

Hi,

i'm trying to get some A3+ (19x13) prints done urgently on Harmon Gloss FB AL paper using
my Epson 3800 via the front manual feeder. I've tried using the rear manual feeder
previously which works fine but i'm getting pizza tracks on the darker prints so i switched to
the front manual feeder. The problem now is that the print gets chopped off slightly more
than a 1/4 of an inch at the top and at the bottom.

My image size is 18x12 inches. Under the paper setup, i have a custom paper size set up to
19x13 but with 1/2 inch borders all around. This works fine using the rear feeder but using
the front feeder, the sides are ok (1/2 inch border on the left and right) but the top and
bottom have a border of slightly more than 3/4 inch (i.e. cutting off my image at the top and
bottom).

Appreciate any help as i've wasted quite a bit of paper trying to figure out what is wrong.
Thanks!

Derrick

Are you aligning the paper correctly when it goes in the feed? The right
edge of the paper goes against the right side of the tray and the bottom
edge is aligned with the white line on the tray.

Yup, was aligned properly. Is there a limitation to how wide the margins must be at the
top and bottom when using the front paper loader? The printer seemed to have left 20cm
at the top and 20cm at the bottom.

Thanks,

Derrick

Re: [Digital BW] Harmon Gloss FB AL & Epson 3800 front loading problem

2008-03-03 by Derrick

I found the answer in the 3800 FAQ on the net. Seems that with front loading "The Front
Feed prints with 0.12 in (3 mm) left and right margins and 0.79 in (20 mm) top and
bottom margins." In my post i put 20cm when i measure but it was a typo on my part
should have been 20mm.

Cheers,

Derrick
