Vista Colour Management

Vista Colour Management

2008-05-04 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I asked here about losing my colour management ... and it seems like it might be a Vista problem - here is the evidence:

----------------
x-rite's web site:
Date Created: 11/14/2007 Date Modified: 3/12/2008
Monitor Profile Doesn't Load Automatically - Vista

Vista seems to unload calibration profiles. Until this is resolved by driver fixes or changes in the operating system, load profiles manually with the "Calibration Loader"
---------------

Has anyone else had this issue?

Why unplugging something from the usb port should do this though, is beyond me.

thanks,
Richard

Are you unplugging the device the profile is for that seems to be 'lost'?

Hi,
no, it's the display profile that is lost - plugging or unplugging the printer to the usb port or unplugging the calibration device etc trigger the problem.

I've got Vista 64 and don't seem to have this problem. The only time the profiles 'diappear' is when there is a major update to my video card. It's always a major effort to get my settings back from those updates. But, that doesn't sound like the problem you're having.

I recently moved my system around, and had to disconnect everything. All went back together without any issues.

However, none of this may be relevant if you're running Vista 32.

RE: [Digital BW] Vista Color Management

2008-05-04 by Eric Neilsen

Richard, I am running Vista 32 on a desktop with the I1 with no such problem
either but I do suspect that it is a permission problem or video card
update. With the current upgrade to Vista SP1 you may be in a catch 22 with
updates. Make sure your video card is up to date and then try a new
calibration. You did un install Adobe gamma right? I have not had a problem
with it yet. Nor did I have any trouble with my Spyder 2 when it was my main
calibration.

What video card are you using again?

Re: Vista Colour Management

2008-05-05 by Jeff Goldner

Make sure you have installed all the Vista updates including SP1. There
was a fix for lookup table reloading after screen fade (and screen
lock) but it is not obvious from the description. Look for KB941693 in
the update history (mine installed on April 10).
