I'm not familiar with the Doepfer VMS. It looks like it would fit the bill. I imagine the lack of CEM parts is the reason theses are no longer being built. Too bad, the CEM ICs or tech like then sure allow for smaller PCB designs for sure. -J _____________________________________

Doefperions - 258/259 - whaddya want to know? I've built a Buchla 258 kit and passed on a 259 kit once seeing the how much work envolved, but I am intimately familiar with both of them. There's a few things about these guys which make them unique - they have triangle wave cores.

First, the buchla have a triangle generator core and the waveforms are derived from there, so FM will be different. Timbre, timbre modulation, symmetry, phase lock, harmonic order, amplitude modulation,... It seems a dual VCO but is really a complex waveform generator with 2 VCOs

hello florian, thanks for the info. i haven't played a 770/800dv yet. oh my gosh, so many synths out there :-) i've looked at the a172 max/min page and i have seen that it was the korg 700 which incorporated the "travel filter" and not the korg 770, sorry for the confusion. best
