It was the battery - the negative wire had actually corroded to the point where it had gone green and broken away from the battery! I replaced the battery with one from Maplin (http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/pcb-mounted-nimh-3v80h-battery-1-pack-bn22y) and it now works as it should. T

Seems to be the correct one. But please measure the voltage of the built-in battery before you replace it. Maybe it's not the battery ! If it's not the battery there is probably nothing you can do and you have to send in the module for repair to the dealer where you purchased it.

It could be the battery but that's not for sure. You should measure the voltage of the battery to find out if this might be the reason. The voltage should read at least ~ 3.4 V (the specified voltage is 3.6V). But even other faults are possible (e.g. broken RAM or processor or ..

Yes, it's an old one. So if the battery is dead then the module will not play back and will behave like I have explained? The memory needs this battery even if the module is powered from the bus? I really hope that this is the problem. Thanks Dieter

Perhaps DIN Sync is more compatible for shuffle? By the sounds of it midi can sometimes interpolate to get incoming singals to get them in time

Interesting, this makes a lot of sense, from my experiences. I'll look into this shufflebox which I've heard about before. Are there any alternate approaches to get getting things shuffling in sync that are more reliable? or is MIDI our best bet? Thanks Dan

Perhaps it's an issue with my MFB drum machine, but I have a feeling it's down to the Dark Time. When I put shuffle onto the dark time, it does not seem to output this shuffle through midi? This is a bit annoying as my bassline through DT will be swinging but not the drums etc. D
