5V Low-Cost Adapter questions

5V Low-Cost Adapter questions

2007-12-14 by jalmari3

I have two 5V Low-Cost Adapters (A-100AD5). I have previously used them
with A-113 and A-190 installed in separate A-100G6 cabinets.

Now I am going to put A-113 and A-190 into same cabinet. Looking at the
power consumption figures it appears, that two A-100AD5 are still
needed. Just to make to make sure, I would like to ask, how should the
A-100AD5:s be installed, when
- A-113 and A-190 are in the same row/power rail.
- A-113 and A-190 are in different rows.

hello chuck,

only one ad5 is allowed per row.
as long as the total 5 volts consumption of the modules
doesn't exceed 100ma you can use more than 1 module
with the ad5. in the example below (a113 and a190)
the 5 volts consumption is 150 ma, therefore you need
two ad5.

best wishes

Sorry, that's not possible as only one A-100AD5 is allowed for each bus
board.

That's the right solution. Simple connect one A-100AD5 on each bus board.

Sorry, I'm confused -- you're saying that the A-100AD5 will only permit one
5V module in the row in which it's installed?

Excellent condition I¹ve been stupid and need to round up some $.

Sells new for $290. I¹ll ship it to you (continental US) for $235.

I also have the a-171 vc slew limiter, a-118 noise/random voltage, a-138
mixer, a-138c polarizing mixer up for grabs too rushed at the moment to
look up all of the new prices if you can offer me about 80% of the new
price, I¹ll ship it to you for that.

Hi

one could add a larger cooling device to the regulator, but I assume
this would cause mechanical problem in transport (too much mass).

Hmm... I guess I could still put both A-113 and A-190 into (say) the
upper row, if I get power for the other module from the lower bus board
(with a longer cable, if needed). Or is there something wrong with that?

Sorry poorly worded question before
is the quality of the A-107 module good compared to Oberheim Matrix
12 which sounded a bit to thin amd digital to my ears

Re: [Doepfer_a100] A-111-1 High-End VCO vs A-110 Standard VCO

2007-12-15 by Denis Gökdag

this depends on what you think of as "better".

the 111 is somewhat cleaner sounding and can be used at higher
frequencies more reliably. it features soft-sync and linear FM (but
you can "hack" a 110 to sport these features too, they're available
on the PCB). the 110 on the other hand has a higher output level and
a rougher sound, which can result in more "phat" at times.
personally i'm quite happy to have both in my rack.

IMO, pwm in the hi freq. ranges sounds much sweeter with the A-111

For the rest, the differences apear not that great to me.

If I get this right I can use an A-190 en A-191 (total powercons. 100
mA) on one ad5 adapter without problems?

The filter itself is similar, but not completely identical. The

                                           "weakness" of the Matrix was
determined also by the DCOs, whilest the A100 always works with VCOs and
software-envelopes.

I kinda agree, if you don't like the M12/Xpander, you may not like the 107.
I didn't care for my Xpander too much--at least for the price and space...
and same for the 107, it does a lot has a lot of potential of course, but
just didn't like it's sound either. It's not bad, but, to many filters I'd
prefer over it.

phil

Hi is there any documentation that tells you a safe way to unplug
modules
apart from earthing yourself the ribbon cable connection to the bus
looks quite tricky--how do I safety unplug and plug back in
