I own a Doepfer A-190-8 midi clock sync module, and a Mutable Instruments Grids drum sequencer. For some reason I cannot get them to sync properly to the song tempo in Cubase. Or in other words: the tempo sync ok, but the Grids module doesn’t start in time with Cubase. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the Doepfer module or the Grids module, or if it has something to do with the way I’ve set the communication up between them. I recorded a video illustrating the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated as I’ve had this issue ever since I first bought these modules. Best regards (and happy new year) from Nicolaj. I don't own a Grid, but I think the problem is, that the Grids expects a reset when the clock is stopped. In the end you were on the right track, when you pressed the reset button, while the clock was stopped, but you did not remove the yellow cable which additionally caused a reset while the clock was running again. If I am right then the correct handling is like this: * press stop in Cubase and reset Cubase to zero * connect clock out of the A-190-8 with clock in of the Grid * press reset on the Grid * press start in Cubase I am not sure, but maybe it would work too if you connect the A-190-8 stop-output with the Grids reset-input. Should be worth the test. Florian

Thanks for your input. I’ll try your suggestions. Of course the nicer approach would be for the Grids to sync up automatically, without me having to press any buttons. I’ll see what works and report back. Br, Nicolaj.

Hi On 29.12.16 18:30 , Nicolaj etc@sidestuff.dk [Doepfer_a100] wrote: > Of course the nicer approach would be for the Grids to sync up > automatically, Using the A-190-8stop-output with the Grids reset-input should work automatically. And another approach might be to delay the clock a little bit. Roland demands for the DIN-Sync clock sender, that the first clock tick must come 9ms after the rising slope of the start/stop-gate. They do this because you always first want to reset the counter and then start triggering the counter. Florian
