Has anyone made or installed a fan kit on a IIx that is quiter than the factory fans? Kevin Kelley __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Small Business - Try our new resources site! http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/resources/

Hi Kevin, I am surprised that there hasn't been more of an issue made about this. I have always found the CMI 2X and CMI 3 to be very loud. I had Peter Wielk do a lovely Papst fan mod to my CMI 2X. I bought 3 Papst 12V fans which Peter simply replaced on the fan board inside the 2X. He also manage to find a 12V source for the fans even though the original ones use mains voltage. It made a really big difference and I am pleased that I managed to get this done before Peter moved to Australia. It can be done but you need to find a technical whizz to do it ! I would like my other CMI's modified as well. Cheers, James James Thomson Magic Audio Co. The Studio West Hampstead London NW2 3RJ U.K.

Hi everyone, I too have a noisy fan set in my MFX2, which I plan to replace as soon as I have my new place set up, which I'm working on. My IIx fans are very very quiet in comparison, they are in fact less noisy than my pc. (Yes the fans are spinning ! ;-) ). As soon as I do my modification (I plan on doing it myself), I'll let you know how hard / easy it is. Best regards, Harald.

Hi guys, Well I have always wanted to do the same to my MFX-2 but I was always waiting for the WFM-32 megabyte RAM card. In fact ,I think with a WFM-32 and 3 1/2 " SCSI drives you would only need about 3 fans running inside the mainframe. I hope all is well ! Regards, James Thomson
