No serial numbers..... It was in the promotional material that I recieved at the age of 14. All the way from Australia to the north pole. If someone can find that information for you I'll hire them as my detective. But that's what is so great about this forum. Anyone can inquire about anything that's fairlight related. I did own a failright that was used by ZZTop. The best thing is that I have the library as well. More than half the battle is in the library's. --- On Tue, 3/13/12, Kirk Keyes <Kirk@lotus30.com> wrote:

I'm referring to some posts made on this forum from many years ago: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Fairlight-CMI/message/172 It was said that Peter Wielk had one. I emailed him recently and said he made one when he was studio manager at Fairlight in 1985 but that he no longer had it. I guess I figured that it would have had serial numbers on it... It's quite common in the classic automobile world for people to have compiled list of cars by serial numbers. Maybe those old records are sitting around in storage somewhere in Australia and we just need to go through them! Thanks, Kirk --- In Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com, greg thurman <trevon12001@...> wrote:

Always have been a fan of the poorly received ZZTOP Afterburner recording - curious to what sounds IIx were used on it?

I'am an afterburner fan as well. cmi is written all over roughboy. a smooth and constand cmi "oooh" versus distorted oldschool r&b rock guitars. an atmosphere never reproduced as far as I know. the blues guitar solo at the end backed by a constant sighing sarah cohen is nothing less than devine. Is this the series III in action ? or the IIx? cheers, David --- In Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com, Josin <josin.miranda@...> wrote:

It was series III, I still have all the library's of ZZtop and others. I still have not went threw all the sound data disks that I have. I have owned 3 series III's. I did keep one. I have owned 4 series IIX's and have kept 1. Huge library's. I will consider trading some sounds with users in the future for some interesting sounds. It will be in the future as my machines are in storage in the West Coast of the United States. Anyone that is interested in trading interesting sounds for both machines can email me. I'll kept there contact information and in the future get with them as I don't have much time due to my training and contract schedule at the moment. Please indicate the sounds, machine and source (artist etc,) where the sounds came from. Also is there anyone on the West Coast of the United States that may service the cmi? And who's the current service guys for the CMI's in the United States. Had mine serviced last in New York around 2006 by a former fairlight tech.. Have had most of my toys in storage for the most part after that. I purchase the machine at Ardent Studios Memphis, Tennessee. This is where they did most of the successful recordings from. Picked the unit up in person and sold it latter but kept the library's. Threw out the years I believe ZZTop used both IIX and III. I believe some of the IIX sounds where also transfered to the III that I purchased. I believe I received a few 8in IIX floppys as well. What was used is important but more important is the sound library's that where used. The library's are always more valuable then who owned the machine. Especially if the sounds they used aren't included in the purchase of the machine. I had one system at the time that I sold the ZZTop unit. Could have kept it but it was not that big of a deal as I had the library's. --- On Thu, 3/15/12, Peter Connelly <peter.connelly@gmail.com> wrote:

Unfortunately, there were no rogue beard / hairs in the mainframe when I received it... I checked. Kyle Reed, on this list, now owns it and, unless he's changed his mind, it will be up for sale soon...
