Deleting Automation Data

Deleting Automation Data

2009-03-02 by Chaz

I created a automation in track 6, where the volume would increase at 1:30. I changed my mind. Page 590 of the manual says to select track, and choose OPTION>DELETE ALL AUTOMATION OF CURRENT TRACK. This does not work. I even tried writing over it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Easiest way is to select the track, then use key command combination
control + Command + E This opens up the Track Automation Event list.
Select the first event then key command to select all events (Command
+ A) use the delete key (below the F13 key) and Voila! Bye Bye Automation.

Enjoy :)

I use the maquee tool (the one that looks like this: + ) and highlight the automation, delete it, move it, copy/paste it, etc.

Doubling when monitoring

2009-03-04 by charles shriner

Hello folks
System: MacBook Pro 17in, OS 10.5.6, Live 7.0.14, Logic Pro 8, Peak
6.0.5, MOTU Ultralite MK3.

In all three programs, when monitoring the external audio input I'm
hearing two signals. It's like a doubling effect. When I record the
input there is only one signal on playback. This tells me the
doubling is happening in the monitoring stage.
The input monitoring in MOTU CueMix is muted on all busses.
In fact when I unmute the inputs in CurMix I then get three copies of
the signal!
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Charles Shriner

Some of what you wrote I find confusing also. But I can tell you what I do when recording into Logic with my Motu 8-Pre and Cue Mix.

1. On the Logic channel to be recorded select the R, M, and I buttons.

2. Pull open cue mix and option click on "Listen" This way I only hear the pre-computer signal of the preamp.

I should clarify though that I have an external digital mixer, and I have the Logic reference tracks (drums, guitars, etc) on two channels of the mixer, and the track being recorded is routed to two different tracks on the mixer in CueMix. So, I think my method works if you only have two outputs, I think I've done it that way before. I don't think you need more than two outputs, like i use usually.

Keep us posted. I'm curious about this one!

Pete

1. CueMix is muted.
2. Input track on L8 is record enabled and software monitoring is on.
3.Through the headphone output of the ultralite I hear two copies of
the signal.
4. Through main outs on the speakers I only hear a single signal.
5. I've not had this happen before.

Same issue with Ableton Live, Peak 6, Garage Band.

After some time with MOTU, Apple and Ableton;
MOTU said it was an Apple issue.
Apple said it was a MOTU monitoring problem and the main out signal
was getting bussed to the headphone output twice.
Ableton said it is a MOTU issue.

Anyway, I'm going to get back with MOTU in the morning.

Re deleting automation and using OPTION>DELETE ALL AUTOMATION OF CURRENT TRACK, or Marquee tools, they both work for me. Are you sure it automation data you want remove? How did you get on in the end, what worked for you?
