Is there a way in QTR (using QTRGui) to print several images on one sheet? For example, I'd like to print two 5x7 images on a single 8.5x11 sheet. I can't see a way to do this, except possible to combine them in Photoshop, which seems like a hassle.

No, but you can use Qimage to create the multiple images and print to a file then print with QTR. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Right, or with Photoshop you can set up a canvas contact sheet by going to Automate-contact sheet II and importing a folder of presized files to distribute on whatever canvas size with dpi you want to use. You will need to set the number of rows and the number of prints in that row but its easy. I have't used it, but is the ps package printing feature useful for large things? The presets are all for small sizes. John --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Stephen Billard" <stephen@s...> wrote: > > No, but you can use Qimage to create the multiple images and print to a file

Thanks Tony, It's easy to use and adapt to whatever you need for multiples on a roll. John

My vote is for qimage for "quality" multiple images. It has very good resizing algorithms, and will do a final sharpening to the resized image appropriate to its dimensions. Set Qimage to output to a TIFF file in the folder monitored by QTR, and it will automatically print. Unless you change QTR curves with each photo, it isn't a bad workflow. If all you want is contact sheets, then it doesn't much matter what workflow you choose. Just my $.02 DRK --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, Bjorn Helgaas <bjorn@h...> wrote:

Is Qimage functional on a Mac platform? John --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "davidkeasey" <davidkeasey@g...> wrote:

No but isn't there software that will allow some PC programs to work on a Mac? I forget what it's called. Tom --- john dean <deanwork2003@...> wrote: --------------------------------- Is Qimage functional on a Mac platform? John

It is called Virtual PC and I've always hated it. It's like the worst of both worlds. They may have improved it, but I doubt it. I just need to have a pc around the studio for things like this and studio print. John --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, Tom Husband <thusband@s...> wrote:

It's more efficent if you're doing lots of images, say 20 images on 10 sheets. Load one of the 5x7 images, turn on centering, then turn it off. Then set the horizontal placement to 0.25, and run the image (or several images, half of your "batch"). Then load the freshly printed sheet (sheets) and set horizontal placement to 5.50 and run the other image (or other half of the batch). Or, as others have pointed out, set up QTR to monitor a folder, then set up Qimage to print to a file, with a resolution of 720dpi, and just use Qimage to do the queue and layout.

koloshor, I am sure this has been covered before, but I recently bought Qimage and don't know how to use it with a program like QTR or IJC/OPM. From what I can tell, Qimage only seems to handle RGB data. If I have 4 or 5 grayscale images (gamma 2.2, QTR Lab, or whatever embedded profile) that I want to gang and print together on a single sheet of paper from QTR, how would I do that? Or, do I need to convert them to RGB first? Do you place them in Qimage, then print to file, and bring the final file into QTR? Any assistance would be appreciated. Do you place them in Qimage, then print to file, and bring the final

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tom. So, let's say I have some saved grayscale tiffs in a gamma 2.2 space. I can open those images in Qimage, arrange them as I like, set up Qimage to print to file using the QTR-RGB Matte profile, and that will give me an accurate print from QTR? Or, would it be better to convert to some other space before bringing into Qiamge? Since Qimage supposedly only works in RGB mode, I as assuning Qimage is doing some sort of invisible conversion the RGB, though I do recall the program showed the embedded gamma 2.2 profile in the queue. So, maybe it leaves the image along until it is either printed to file or to my inkjet. Any thoughts on getting the most out of Qimage would be appreciated. Do most people find that using Qimage for resampling and sharpening gives better results in QTR than just printing a straight PS image in QTR? Thanks again, Tom. I tried converted a file to QTR-RGB-matte profile in Qimage and then opened it up in PS. It is indeed converted to an RGB file with the above profile embedded. I haven't used Create ICC with QTR yet, so I don't know how it fits into the scheme. Then when I'm ready to print to file in Qimage I'll use rgb-matte.icc as the printer icc in Qimage. I'll also save resampling and final sharpening for Qimage as I think it does a better job than just about anything else. Interpolation is Pyramid and the Smart Sharpen setting is at the default or lower depending the image.
