Does anyone know how to get a decent print using the QTR with Museo Silver Rag? I am hoping to achieve neutral b&w as well as sepia ideally. Please help.

The problem is this-I don't know where to begin with the settings for Silver Rag with the 9600. I am new to the QTR RIP-I just installed and loaded it yesterday. Can someone give me some advice on settings with this paper. Enhanced Matte and Museo Max were easy enough to figure out. I am at a loss with Museo Silver Rag though, and I am hoping to get at least Neutral/cool but hopefully Sepia as well. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Tom Moore" <r.t.moore@...> wrote:

If you have already used Enhanced Matte and Museo Max, it must mean you have matte black (MK) ink installed in your 7600. Silver Rag, on the other hand, requires you to use photo black (PK) ink installed. I looked at the supplied curves for 7600 and 9600, and there is not one available for PK. So I am afraid you will have to start from scratch. Perhaps some other kind soul on this forum, who has already made one can send it to you. Do you really want to switch from MK to PK? With Silver Rag you should know that you will get a lot of bronzing and gloss differential with the 9600 UC inks. You can always coat with Print Shield to reduce this effect. Please also try to ask here: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/ There may be someone who has generated 9600 PK curves for Silver Rag. Good luck. Right, I've tested this when SR first came out. There is no way to work with black and white out of K2 Epson inks with any of these glossy papers, even with PK. The bronzing and the gloss differential isn't workable even with 3 coats of after spray and contoling print tone is impossible. K3 works well though. The extra light light black makes all the difference in combination with the new glossy formulated PK of the K3 set. Cone pigs don't work at all either on SR. John

Why use Silver Rag if you want to achieve neutral to cool tones? Silver Rag is a very warm tinted paper so you will never get the desired result(you're whites will always be 'creme')Try a really white paper. Steven.

This is at the request of a particular client who likes this paper. I understand that the paper is warm; I am trying to achive neutral gray tones with the ink. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Steven" <X5682pdb00@...> wrote:

Thanks for the input. BTW-The results I have been happiest with using the QTR are on Museo Max paper. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "john dean" <deanwork2003@...> wrote:
