>>Knob Passthrough mode, yes please!!!!<< yes please here too. the knobs work like this in mixer mode, unless I'm much mistaken. the knobs on my memorymoog have both modes, depending what you want on any given day. the little window shows you the stored value & a "this is where the knob's pointing but I'm ignoring it at the moment" value. it takes several twists to get it to pick up sometimes because the beast was wrought from solid silicon back in 1982, but this is one of those "good fault" things. if you move a knob, you see the stored value on the left, "<>" in the middle & the current knob value on the right. when the knob has picked up, the "<>" disappears & stays disappeared for that parameter. duncan. Play mode knobs use pass-through mode, so that includes both the mixer and knobs values grabbed by events. I wasn't going to implement it in pattern edit partly because I didn't think there was much space left, but some things I've been working on recently have saved a chunk of space, so maybe I will. Pass-through mode could be annoying without some way to defeat it, for example, if the knob is in physical position 126, the 'stored' position is 0, and you want to move it the 127, it means nearly two full rotations instead of a tiny movement... I suppose FUNC+knob movement could enable immediate reponse. Best regards, Colin Fraser Sequentix Music Systems Ltd http://www.sequentix.com

They played two pieces, the first was about 40 minutes of solid sequencing, which got off to a slow start but gradually built-up into some sort of demented hybrid of EM and dance. Do I detect the influence of Mr Nagle? The second piece, their encore, was a bit more traditional and started out as the intro to TranceAtlantic, then built solidly as more sequences were added and then changed. Nice :-) My P3 got another live outing too, which was fun ;) Jez

hi Colin, > Pass-through mode could be annoying without some way to defeat it my Quasimidi 309 has 3 knob-modes; immediate, pass-through and relative. personally i prefer the relative mode, where the stored value is translated to the current knob position and the range to the left or right of the stored value is translated to the remaining range to the left or right of the current knob-position. It can be weird when for example you have a stored value of 100 and the knob's current position is something like 10, as the 0-99 range of the stored value is then squeezed into the 0-9 range of the knob's current position and vice versa, but for me it's still better than pass-through or immediate modes. grtz Chiel

Rotary encoders / 360 deg pots would solve all these problems .... FUNC + knob turn = coarse adjust knob turn = fine adjust one click = query value on display without adjusting ? IMO, the lack of visual feedback you get with rotary encoders is no worse than the invalid visual feedback you get from a mismatch between the current and stored value. :: kkonkkrete :: --- In analogue-sequencer@yahoogroups.com, ch.³l <oozi@o...> wrote:

that's what they have on the NordLead 3, and in first glance you would generally hate that kind of thing, but for what you're talking about, it would be applicable _____ <http://jmsb.concordia.ca/%7Ealexa_re/sig.jpg> Alex Reid Montreal, Canada alex_reid@sympatico.ca <outbind://36/a@signals-systems.com> http://www.signals-systems.com <http://www3.sympatico.ca/signals_systems/> <mailto:alex_reid@sympatico.ca> _____ <mailto:alex_reid@sympatico.ca>
