Just enter the BCR's "learn" mode, and send the corresponding parameter data to the midi IN of the BCR, one at a time, until all the jx's parameters are "learned" by each knob on the BCR. How do I send them from the jx8p, and just to be safe, the jx8p only sends and receives sysex files...

So for the purpose of proving my noobdom all I have to is hook midi out from jx to bcr hit learn on bcr and then change a paramater in jx and then turn a knob on bcr? then how do I save lol, sorry day one with this thing :)

Join the jx8p yahoo group and download the 8p bcr setting. Works great. Use it as a template for further refinement if its not to your liking. Cheers, Joey

all right, so i totally suck at this. i'm completely manual illiterate. i've read the thing five times now and am more confused then when i started. 1) get the Roland manual and look at the sysex at the end to see what parameter messages it can receive. 2) decide from these parameters what you want to control and what the layout on the BC should be. There is a PC editor for the JX8p here http://www.synthzone.com/mschreier/html/pcjx8p.htm that might give you some inspiration. 3) Get Mark's editor and create a preset for the synth. Perhaps you should download some other presets from the file area to see what they look like. 4) Ask questions here about specific problems. The JX does send parameter info to it's midi OUT jack...this is how I programmed my bcr. You obviously have to send the out of the JX to the IN of the bcr for each parameter you want to program.
